How keen is the pricing on these things . How does $27500 drive away for an auto MY12 sound?
Is that the current driveaway pricing deal?

The 10th letter in my vin is "B" indicating 2011. I have driven one with a "C" vin being a 2012. Are these two cars identical? I ask as my perception is that my "B vin" 2011 isn't as smooth as the 2012 car. I may be wrong as my car only has 50km on the clock and obviously has to be run in but the other car that I drove was also a 50km car.

Letter C indicates MY12 - your car is an MY11 - B/tooth & MDI are a factory option in the MY11 but may have been ordered by the dealer with the car?

Can you tell from the VIN what options the car has been fitted with?

no look in the service book and there is a sticker with all the options code behind the front cover

All Audis and Porsches use a similar system - if you google the codes, it will tell you what they are.

You can, by using erWin and the "Individual Vehicle Information" search. Or look at the service book and option codes as others have mentioned.

                Golf R - MY12 vs MY12.5

Simple question - after what date of manufacture is the car considered an MY12.5? When would this slip over into MY13?

(and I assume no differences between 12 and 12.5?)

                Thanks

I was told by the dealer that after June '12, car will be '13 MY.

Believe there is no difference. But hoping there is as mine will now be a '13.

My car is Jan 2012 built and it's MY12.5

                        Hope that clears some doubts.

as far as i know, there are no "halves" (i.e. only "whole" model years: MY11, 12, 13 etc.) this goes by the 10th digit in your VIN (B=11, C=12, D=13). VW changes model year midway through the year, as evidenced in their brochures, which are printed in january for that year's models and in july for the next year's models. i'd attach the brand new MY13 golf catalogue that i got today at VW Open Day in Currumbin, but i don't have permission. must be because i'm a noob. if someone else is able to post it, perhaps i could email it to him/her...
(my R that is arriving in 1 month was built at the very end of June and it's an MY13)

VW does occasionally make (minor) spec changes midway through a model year. As a result, some model years are broken up into two (ie MY12 and MY12.5).

thanks for that. Yes, i guess midway through a model year would be in january each year, which is why they print a new brochure. The VIN wouldn't change until june/july

Here is the MY13 Golf brochure: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9K...m5kR0hicnZKMXM

From what I see, they've discontinued one of the colours, which was a nice teal blue in my opinion. For the R, the only difference is they added phone controls to the steering wheel. I can't see any other differences when compared to the previous version.
