There's a locking nut fitted to each wheel when Denvers are fitted. I'd be very surprised if they weren't fitted to all GTIs and Rs delivered in Australia to be honest.
All OEM VW wheels use the ball seat lug and lock bolts.
All Mk5 and Mk6 Golf's come with 16 normal lug bolts and 4 lock bolts.
A word of advise for Mk6 lock bolts, never overtighten the bolts over the recommended torque of 88 ft lb by VW, so only use the OEM tool or a torque wrench.
The new Mk6 Golf lock key and bolt design is very easy to damage if overtightened.
It happened to me earlier this year, i thought doing all the bolts super tight using a long wrench would give me more security... but came time to take off the wheels I got a big problem with undoing the lock bolts.. screwed my lock key and damaged the paint in the lug holes..
went to a tyre shop and they could not do it even with a breaker bar...
went to VW service, they put the car on a hoist, used a hammer / breaker bar.. no luck, then they used an impact rattle gun with 2 guys holding it and fortunately they successfully took the lock bolts off. Then purchased a new set and put them on...
Also, always use a matching lug / lock bolts set and hub rings if you're putting on aftermarket wheels. The OEM bolts = ball seat design, most aftermarket wheels use tapered / conical seat design.
I thought i might post here the specs for the standard (OEM) Wheel bolt found on the MKV & MKVI Golfs as well as most late model VW's as after doing a number of searches on various forums it seems as though there was alot of conflicting info out there...

If looking at installing After Market Wheels, you will most likely need Cone/Taper/Conical Seat Wheels bolts as most aftermarket wheels use a Cone/Conical type seat.
If looking at installing wheel spacers you will require longer bolts which are available from a number of Wheel & Tyre places around Sydney as well as a number of suppliers from overseas and ebay.
The exact same OEM wheel bolts are also used on various Audi, Mercedes, Porsche...
Wheel spacers and converters are illegal on Australian roads.
Now that we've got that little disclaimer out of the way.
I believe the answer to your question can be found in sites such as ECS Tuning which sell VAG parts, including wheel spacers/converters and the appropriate lug nuts.
Our cars don't use lug nuts...and my post wasn't a question, it was info for forum member's that appreciate the convenience of having all the accurate info they could possibly need/want consolidated in the one place including some technical explanations behind the jargon.

Just regarding ECS, although they do have the bolts, unless buying quite a few products at one time form them, their shipping tends to be very expensive ie US$75 shipping + US$27.90 for 10 lug bolts. At Tempe Tyres i bought 10 x 40mm Lug Bolts for $20. Sometimes buying abroad doesn't pay off...other times, such as APR HPFP etc, you get it landed for half what you pay here. Cheers!

Nuts, bolts, lugs etc. Well said Corey. My after market wheels came with lug nuts and lock nuts to suit the Golf. In life, you get what you pay for generally

personally, i would not put any Tempe stuffs on the GTI. Tempe's ok for tyres if you know exactly what you want.

Hubrings - the supplied set cracked after a few weeks.
Tyres - the Kumho made the car the worst car I ever drove despite them saying 'kumho is good, same as bridgestone...'. I bought another set of tyres a week later, from somewhere else.
Nuts - they went rusty and taking them off was PITA.
Wheels - fortunately Lenso was a proper budget wheels manufacturer in Thailand.
So, you get what you pay for.
For budget boy racer cars, Tempe's is great.
For a proper >$40k German car, either OEM or good quality selected European / USA / JDM stuffs only, that's my motto.

I agree regarding Tempe Tyres, can't stand them and would never buy wheels or tyres from them. I just used them as an example for wheel bolts as alot of places around Sydney actually get the bolts from them.
Regarding rusting, a little graphite on the wheel bolt thread before installing prevents issues later down the track.
Lastly, dollar value does not determine quality and neither does country of origin. Most companies charge what ppl are willing to spend and also alot of companies prey on the ignorance of the customer.
If you want to spend 2 to 3 times more for the same product well thats your perogative, I'm just trying to provide some useful info to auto enthusiasts and dont really care for cheque book tuners.
I have worked on alfa's, maserati's, bmw's, rotarie's, triumph's and the usial aussie and american muscle and you will be suprised at the origins of parts and interchangeability...
