        Service agent recommendations in Melbourne?

        Hey all,

My VW golf is coming out of warranty and wondered where most melbourne folks go to get a reliable and cost competitive service done?

        Any recommendations would be appreciated.

        Cheers.

Need a service centre close to Central Railway Station in Sydney. Saw this place advertised: SYDNEY PRESTIGE 589 - 591 Elizabeth St Surry Hills.

Any experience or views? (45k service)

Mine is leased so it needs to have an Australian Vehicle Consultants link. (they manage the maintenance process for the lease company)
                  Steve

2011 Golf DSG 77TSI 12 month service recommendations

                      Hi all,

My 2011 (2012 make) Golf DSG 77TSI is up for it's first service (12 months or 15000 km). It has about 9000km on it. It's a wonderful car and I have no complaints whatsoever.

I know this is a very common question, but where would you recommend a good place to get it serviced?

I don't know a whole lot about cars, and naturally I have a feeling that I'll be charged an arm and a leg if I go get it serviced at my local dealership (Barlowworld Mascot).

I live in Eastgardens which is in Sydney's south east and looking at previous posts, most recommendations are either very far away from me or out of date.

I remember when I bought the car, I was told that I would get a hire car free for the first service, which is a nice perk, but certainly not a necessity for me (and I don't think it's worth the extra money that I think the dealership will charge).

Where would you guys recommend? And will my warranty still be valid?

                      Thanks very much

Norris (Kedron) Service Centre - Brisbane

                        Hey there!

Has anyone dealt much with Norris Volkswagen at Kedron?

I rang to book my car in, and the girl who took my details was very quick and not a great listener at all. Just popped out the questions and didn't let me get a word in about anything, then quickly got me off the phone. I've dealt with other service centres, such as Subaru, and they are much friendlier and chattier on the phone, to find out if you have any other concerns with your car and so forth and if it is your first service, a bit more about their procedures when you drop the car off etc. I didn't get a chance to articulate anything much nor receive any general information about the service centre at all.

Then when I arrived, I got a similar level of disinterest and lack of information from the girl (I imagine it was the same one I spoke to earlier). Just quick, give me your details and go. When I questioned the type of service I was getting, it was "no, that's not the service you need. New car etc etc" and she spoke to the service manager (almost rolling her eyes that I was there and why was I asking??). Oh, I did try to question the service when I booked, but if I had a chance to talk to to the girl properly when I booked it in, I probably would not have even needed to go there in the first place!

The Service Manager was excellent, but the girl who took my details was so short, quick and hard to communicate with. Such a different experience from our Subaru service centre.

Anyone else experienced this at all?

I just go to Prestige and Performance and get mine serviced there so i don't have to deal with all that.

Also Alba European (Jmac on our forums) is very good at servicing.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. It's one of the few dealers that i would consider servicing my car based on warranty dealings.

Thank you! I'll give them another go, as I was still impressed by the Service Manager. But it would be great if their reception was a little more receptive (pardon the pun! )

I have used VW Village in Kensington a couple of times, no complaints and recently tried Muller and Muller at Lakemba, also quite good. Warranty is still valid as long as service carried out according to log-book, using VW parts. Have taken the car back to Barloworld for warranty repairs without issues.
