  • Would you go new Golf R or Used TTS ?

At the end of this year or early next i want to upgrade my current GTI mkv Apr2+
Ok I know the TTS costs more and i understand they all use the same engine/drivetrain but I really love the look of the TTS..

So what would you guys think, worth spending a little more for a used TTS or is it silly as you can buy an new Golf R and be done with a new car and cheaper price ?
Also Motor mag loved the TTS and wrote how a Golf R with the same drivetrain did not feel as exciting/involving..

If you love it, get it! Plus it'll be a change from a Golf!

I assume you don't need boot space and rear seats?

I'd get the TTS if that is what you want.
If you are buying for space you could get a Tiguan (Flamesuit on)

Definitely the TTS, it's a chick magnet!!! And it looks so slender and elegant, like Jennifer Hawkins..

Dont know why you even asked! It sounds like you need a TTS and fast! They look great and go well.

They're two very different cars. Who cares what anyone else thinks? Look at both and get which one you like/suits your requirements. No one else on these forums is you (well, I hope not... cause that's against the rules and/or is creepy). So only you can answer what you like and what are your requirements.

are you sure Motor Mag loved the TTS? i thought they loved the TTRS - which is a very different car.

Its your choice which style to go for and you shouldnt let us try and steer you there.

the advantage in a used TTS is that it would have done a bigger part of the depreciation game, so might maintain a bit more of its purchase value over a new Golf R.

If the Gof R appeals, then why not also throw an S3 into the mix?

This post comes to mind (substitute TT for Vibram) : http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f40/...tml#post642159

TTS is a sports chassis, where the Golf R/S3 aren't.

you definitely can feel the difference driving both thats for sure. Practicality i would go for the R to be honest and after test driving a TTRS recently im still content with the S3 as least i can get in an our easily and fit **** inside the car lol, including people!

                      Hehe nice sig there.

I'd go the TTS if it's still in superb condition.

So they run different chassis ? I thought they were the same running gear as the magazine said..

Chassis != running gear. Mind you, these cars don't have a chassis in the strict sense. They do share the same PQ35 platform (along with many other cars, from the Skoda Octavia to the Audi Q3), but it's very flexible and modular, so beyond elements of the floorpan and basic structure, there's not a whole lot that these cars have in common.

I think MOTOR loves the TTS and TTRS. Can't blame 'em.
