RED Golf R in OZ

question : does this mean that we can ask dealers if we can order the Golf R in red now even though its not an "official" colour released here?

It came in error claims the OP but on golfmk6 forums in the R thread, the guy who ordered it and cancelled it basically said he ordered it because he requested? So is it just a matter of asking the dealer whether we can get the R in a different colour not released here? tornado red, a navy blue colour are 2 colours for the R not released in Australia (off the top of my head)

Quite possibly - however, Volkswagen Group Australia would have to accept the order.

The other thing is, that the Golf R doesn't have the 40 odd colours that the Golf GTI does. Even in Germany the only colours are:
Candy White
Tornado Red
Reflex Silver Metallic
Rising Blue Metallic
Shadow Blue Metallic
United Grey Metallic
Blue Graphite Pearl Effect
Deep Black Pearl Effect

So it's just the two more blues and the red, not any greens, purples, pinks, yellows, additional blues, reds, greys, etc that the GTI has.

I went to the dealership at 5pm on Sat and the Red R was sold already! When I inquired about the delivery time if I order a RB Manual on the day, they said Nov/Dec, how did you score a July delivery ?

This Red R is at Barloword fivedock where I ordered my RB R 2 weeks ago.
I saw this one in person when I went to see my dealer the other day.

I can confirm that it has Dynaudio. I think it also has a RVC but no ACC from my memory.
Not so sure about MDI, Bluetooth though as I just sat it in for like 20 secs while I was waiting for my dealer to show up.
According to the dealer, this car was a special order placed by one of his customers but the finance didn't go through. That is why it is sitting there waiting for a lucky owner.
Actually, I quite liked the colour.
I might have picked this one up if it had all the options I ticked for mine.

Honestly, I don't know how it was possible either.
But the sales person I dealt with said to me that he is pretty sure he can get it in 4-5months.
If the car doesn't arrive after 4 months, I will get a loan car until the car arrives.

I ordered one actually. But they couldnt confirm that it would be here or not .. so i cancelled (ages ago now). So ended up with the sprint blue s3 instead .. lol glad i did too

This being a mistaken order is as much as a joke as the 'mistaken' MKV R32's and the 'special order' United Grey GTI's.

Yeah, there are probably not many of them floating around, but this won't be the last one to arrive.

I ordered my red R last June and didn't have to pay a premium for the colour. All you need to do is find a dealer that does some decent volume, i.e. one that has some pull with volkswagen as there is a bit of extra internal work to get it through the system. From what I saw it is put down as white car on the dealers original paperwork then the colour is changed to G2G2 by someone at VW later on. The dealer won't guarentee it will be red until VW actually make the change to the order.

Wow, didn't even know there was R ... I thought Rising Blue was the exclusive colour for R ... I think if I saw it zooming past I would just assume it was the addidas GTI hehe
