  • Longer waits for check up @ dealer service centre

I had a underbody hit pevious week on my mk6 golf TSi which seems to ruined the wheel balance. Not sure what else has been damaged. Rang the usual service dealer and got a response, " next availabilty of a check up is on 11Feb" . I asked them that it is not due for a service but I just need a quick check up! They were saying that their system won't allow to book me in for any thing! I wonder what would happen if your car got damaged or happen not be in a driving condition.. and looks like we have to wait for 2 or 3 weeks to get it looked at Thought VW was bit more efficient. Last time I had a very bad experience when my DSG got replaced. Thgt it would have improved during the course. Now I have my car in the garage for a week and still have to wait for another 2 to get it checked!!
VW service - should grow up!!
Any suggestions or alternatives that I can use around North Sydney??

Service Centres get busy... which is why there are lots of them.
Have you called any of the other dealerships?

Have you called any VW specialist?
For that matter, if you just want to make sure that nothing has been damaged and whether it's in driving condition or not, have you called any mechanic?

If I were to get my car serviced by someone other than VW, I'd call Derek at European Autotech at Mona Vale.

Sorry. Correct me if im wrong.. But wouldn't you have to pay for a visit to auto tech or any 3rd party?

I'm pretty sure the original poster is looking for a warranty repair. Why would you go somewhere and pay when the whole reason you paid new is for trouble free, free repairs motoring

I would've thought that the poster will need to pay to fix the damages regardless since that it is not a warranty related issue?

Exactly... why would it be warranty? He hit something.

              Go see Derek IMO.

The OP has a point though - but unfortunately that's life. Service departments are always going to be busy.

As the other guys have said IF there is damage, then it won't be a warranty repair anyway.

However, the OP has put his car in his garage and doesn't want to drive it for another 2 weeks until he can get his "quick check up" to determine IF there is damage. Hence why he'd be best to just take it to another mechanic, or even a VW specialist, to find out whether there is damage, or if he's worrying about nothing.

That's because they're too busy having young apprentices changing oil & filters for a much larger profit. Why would they want too eat into their bread & butter revenue because you hit something. Dealer Service centers are time managed systems, another bad habit we picked up from the yanks.

For this sort of stuff better just take it to a specialist.

There is the German auto specialist (forget their name) on Falcon Street Crows Nest near West Street (next to Ryo's Noodles).

Or you could take it to VW Village at Kensington, only 10 minute drive from where you are and they know their dubs.

                        Thanks

                        Thanks guys!
Finally Barloworld guys helped me Taking my car there and will find out what happened. They said they won't be able to do the wheel alignment though, but could get a 3rd party to get it done. Hope things would be back to normal tomorrow. Only thing is I have to take the car to them from where I live and work!
