I wonder if that's based on contracts signed or cars delivered?

There's certainly a massive backlog of orders...

Can't be, I live in the Melbourne CBD, there are more 118TSI's than GTI's.

Maybe everyone interested is waiting for someone else to buy and take a hit on the initial depreciation.

                  leme see - I've seen about 4 other 118 TSI's - lots of 103 TDI's, and lots more GTI's

I think I saw my first R on the road the other day going into Burnley tunnel yesterday arvo - was a silver one of all colours) (Either that or someone changed their rear lights to the LED ones - that's the only way I noticed it).

In the first list I would've liked to have seen VW a bit higher up, but I guess that means my car isn't too "common" yet.
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

If you look at the servicing cost of VW's, they're far too high in the first 100,000km's to be too much higher up IMO. If you asked Ford/Holden/Toyota etc drivers to pay what VW owners do for servicing even upto 60k with things like the DSG etc, they'd fall over.

Until recently, Toyota wasn't that much cheaper (if cheaper at all) considering you had to service it twice as often.
Now with Toyota's fixed price servicing, they are cheaper.... but that would mean you'd have to drive a Toyota

I'm a little surprised at how well the XR5 is doing against the others and how poorly the 3MPS is doing.

                          XR5 is in "runout" mode.
                          MPS isn't very good

depreciation on a French car.... it'd run shivers down your spine...

Except in some cases the Japs want a service every 6months/10000km. Whereas VW only want one every year/15000km.

Add it up at that rate and maybe the difference isn't so great?
