  • Problem - Electrical?

Not sure if this the correct place to post...

Have had a couple of problems (actually the same problem a couple of times) with my car which I assume are electrical.

I open the doors with the remote, get in and turn the key - mid way through the needle dance the system cuts out, and "ESP error" is displayed. I have to 'reset' the car by locking and reopening with the remote... Any ideas??

    Then today a different problem - unrelated/related..?

The car was driven this morning with no problems. I go to get into it this afternoon and no response - zero - from the vehicle as I hit the remote. Cannot open it. Look into the car and the usual red warning light is not on. I think battery..? No, car is brand new with only 4200kms! Anyway, I pop open the door latch and get into the car, put the key in the ignition and nothing...

I decide to get a lift home with someone else.

Then, after I lock the car with the key again, I notice the red light has started flashing. Hit the remote to open, close and open again, get in and it starts no problem...

Is this just a gremlin and is there an easy explanation or is it likely to be something more sinister? I live in Mount Isa, and really do not want to drive to Townsville (over 800kms) to see the dealer if it is not necessary.

    Help please!

Find the battery and make sure the leads are done up tight.

Ants in the fusebox in the engine bay is quite common.

The other thing is perhaps something is chewing current out of the battery.

+1 - this has turned out to be the issue for a few random people with these random issues in the past...

Mooka, I'd be contacting dealer to get his/her ass down there is to sort out. From stories I read on this forum, sounds like I have the BEST dealer in OZ. I wouldn't have to ask twice, they'd be there.... Maybe thats why GuY_H travels 100 ks to buy his VW's from Garry Crick.

Thanks for all your help and thank goodness for the forum!

Had a look under the hood this evening - one very very loose battery terminal! Hopefully problem solved...

Is it possible that the needles dancing have created enough energy / momentum to slowly loosen the nut on the battery terminal?

Yep! We all knew that these dancing needles are bad news!

Sounds like the software error that is in the ABS CM just need to get your dealer to flash the ABS CM with new latest software
