It is possible to order VW boot floor raiser inserts that lift the boot floor sufficient to allow std. fitment full size wheels/tyres.
I have fitted these polystyrene inserts to my MK6 to allow me to use a full size alloy spare wheel/tyre.
The VW insert P/Nos are :- 1K6858857B & 1K6858858C . In addition to these inserts a longer plastic spare wheel clamping bolt is needed P/No.1K0803899D. I chose not to order the strengthened boot cover/mat and made my own strengthened cover out of 9mm plywood and used the std boot mat with that. My plywood boot floor is much stronger than the VW strengthened cover. The std. mat fits perfectly with the raised floor and the 9mm plywood will allow almost any load you would put in your MK boot ( even an air-cooled VW Beetle engine !).
Some boot height is lost but the polystyrene inserts have recesses in them to allow oddment storage i.e. tools ,air compressor, warning triangle , medical box. bulb kit , high visibilty vests , etc.

Using the same wheel/tyre as originally fitted by the VW factory ,There is no speed restriction or journey duration limit.
