  • Door Bottle Pocket Dimensions

    Hey Guys,

I was wondering whether anyone with a MK6 Golf can check what the dimensions of the bottle pocket in the front doors are.

Specifically I'm looking for the diameter and height*

Obviously the "top" of the bottle pocket is open, so by height, I mean the approximate height that the bottle could be whilst still being able to get it in and out of the pocket.

I don't have dimensions with me, but they're quite large,
I fit 2 X 200mL bottles, a CD wallet and Etag in the drivers side.
the arm rest doesn't directly obstruct the height, as the plastic is sloped outwards.

The rear edge of the pocket isn't sealed, so if you put something small in there (etag), it will slide under the armrest.
hard braking is required to retrieve it

It does end at least on my R, I can't fit my arm down there but my friend was able to and it didn't go all the way to the end so he said... rather stupid though.

Can't be bothered measuring it but you can fit a big arse drink bottle in it that's for sure, probably a 1.5L bottle of coke!

Cool... so the height isn't too important, the diameter is still important though.
I'm ordering a few stainless steel bottles from the interwebs for work, and thought I'd also order one for the car. They're not exactly cheap and disposable like 1.5L bottles of coke, and they won't deform to squeeze in there, so need to be sure before I order!

I had a bottle of wine in the door and it was moving around like a mofo, the door pockets are HUGE. If you really want the dimensions, I'll go out to the car park. Not like I need much of an excuse to go check on my car

You can fit a 1.5L bottle of soft drink in there - just. It doesn't deform, it's just snug. So nothing bigger than that. Also, a 1.5L bottle tapers at the top. The diameter of these are about 300mm x 90mm. So for something squarer, no bigger than 250mm x 90mm - and I did measure the height and width of the pocket.

Why not put your etag behind the rear view mirror stalk at the top of the windscreen Mr Bob?

I thought about it, but I don't head onto motorways much, so my wife and I share one tag between 2 cars.

plus i'm not really that keen on having the ugly thing stuck inside my car, even if the rear view mirror would do a decent job of blocking it.

I rarely use them down here as well, but I just have the rego listed on the account. You pay a small extra fee for the number plate lookup, no big deal.

Large round Munted Farklins bottles are the biggest I'd fit. They're just snug enough to not move round.
