  • GTI mk6 door not opening automatically when key is taken out from ignition

    Hi Members

previously when i stop my car and pull the key out of the ignition, the door would be open automatically, i checked the MFD settings under convenience and everything is tick to do so automatically, now it's not working..

any ideas what is wrong? anyone here is currently experiencing this problem..

    any feedback would be good.

    cheers

Turn the auto lock / unlock features off in the MFD, go through the process of locking, unlocking, getting in starting driving, stoping, turning off and getting out and locking again and all that kinda thing. Then set the features back the way you want them.

If it still don't work, then maybe a sensor related to the ignition barrel isn't working properly.

Try disconnecting the battery for 30mins or so to reset it all to default (if you wish) and set it back up the way you like - maybe that'll fix it.

Assuming the battery actually resets all the MFD options to default...

It did for me when I installed the RNS 510. Had to pick my preferred door & window opening options and set the clock again. Also lost my trip meter.

and when you do remember that

after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, pinch protection of the power window regulators will not function. This can cause serious injuries if e.g. fingers are caught in the window!

The following work sequence is for the front left window. The positioning for the remaining windows is performed in the same manner using the respective switch in the driver's door.
Perform the following work sequence to position the electric windows:

            · Switch ignition on
            · Close all doors and windows completely
            · Hold left front side-window in position “Close” by pulling and holding switch for longer than 1 second.
            · Lift button again for 1 second. Now when the button is pressed briefly the window will lower fully and when the button is lifted briefly the window will raise fully.
            · Switch ignition off

I completly forgot that the Golf had that feature. There was a short time when I had to hold the switch to close the window but over the course of driving it's sorted itself out (possibly when closing via the remote control or rain sensor).

I've noticed that my car does this every now and then too. Won't unlock all the doors after ignition off. My cornering fog lights would also not function every now and then as well, guess it's just some software issues.

I have this problem on my Mk6 GTI.

Turned the auto lock / unlock features off in the MFD. Went through the process of locking, unlocking, getting in, driving, stopping, turning off and getting out and locking again and all that kinda thing. Then set the features back on. Automatic locking works fine. Automatic opening still doesn't work.

Disconnecting the battery is an absolute last resort.

Does anybody have a fix or advice?
