    How much are dealers quoting to fit cruise control to the 77 TSI ? That's one option that could pay for itself in saved speeding fines.

      It can't be fitted to the MY11 77 TSI as there is no kit available. There might be a kit next year though...

        If it costs $2000 roughly to upgrade the steering wheel on the 118 TSI so that it has paddles (for changing gears), wouldn't it seem likely that upgrading to cruise-control (if it were possible) would also cost an insane amount, and therefore justify the purchase of the 90TSI?

          I don't see why it should be insanely expensive. In terms of physical hardware, the vehicle should already have everything it needs except the multi-function stalk. The rest is ones and zeroes in computer modules. Check this out : Vw Mk6 Golf Cruise Control - Vw & Audi Sat Nav, Bluetooth , TV Tuners, Cruise Control Installations UK

          Then of course there's the option of a third party system with electric actuators or vacumn reservoirs suitable for turbocharged vehicles which is what I had to fit to my MY99 WRX, but you end up with cheap looking switchgear in the cabin and extra hardware under the bonnet. From memory, the system I installed cost less then $250 (not including my time).

          We'll see how long it takes for VWA or the dealers to come up with the kit option Dermot is hinting at.

            Hey all

            I've got a MY11 77TSI and i'd love to retrofit the multi function steering wheel.

            Is it just the case of the wheel, controller & coding? Has anyone done it?

              VW Golf 2011 77TSI DGS

              Hi all,

              What's the lowest price you've paid for your 2011 77TSI Golf DSG (Driveaway price) and what extras did you get (or can expect to get - floor, boot mats etc) ?

              Thanks

                I've merged your post here. We don't get many people asking questions about the 77TSI, but since its specs and options differ quite significantly from the rest of the models, I think it's best to keep its pricing separate from the Trendline and Comfortline models.

                To be quite honest, from what I've seen, there isn't too much wiggle room in the 77TSI's price. It's the lowest margin of any Golf model already, and even the dealer delivery is usually lower on it compared to the other models.

                So I think that asking for a bit off the price and a few extras such as your floor mats, boot mat etc is good option. Can't really say what the lowest anyone has paid for one is, cause people don't normally come on and post about it!

                  I do about 500kms a week of freeway travel and was looking for a new car with low fuel consumption but with some guts on the open road.

                  After having test driven a Yaris (boat on wheels) Demo Fiesta Zetec WT ex-demo (gutsy, nimble with lots of goods, but I hate the interior) I went into my local VW dealership today looking at Polo Trendline, I found the trendline had no real torque/guts and felt disappointed.

                  I was about to walk out and go save another $4000 for the Polo 77TSI when the dealer suggested I test drive the Golf 77TSI. I drove it and was really surprised, it's not going to beat anything off the lights but the mid range torque is great for the freeway, low fuel consumption, very little cabin noise and it corners really well and with all the accessories it is a good deal for $21,990.

                  It was still $2000 over budget but the dealer gave me $1500 more the trade (above glass guide value with 1 month rego left) so I was pretty happy with that and bought it on the spot

                  Pick up a white 77TSI in 2 weeks. The only thing I will add in alloy's at a later date and maybe after market cruise control....

                        I was looking at 77TSI myself and found the best deal being $24,490 (DGS) with metallic paint extra cost waived but then ended up getting 2011 90TSI for extra $1,500. Very happy with the find. According to the spreadsheet, discount was about 20,6%.

                          I totally agree with this.

                          I had just driven a C30 2.0N/A with Volvo's version of the DSG (Powershift) 6 speeder.

                          Then I went next door to the VW and tested the Golf 1.2T aka 77TSI. Couldn't believe how much zippier the car with 800cc down felt. I'm still not in Australia so really want to find some great deals on this car.

                          It's a base car I know so I'll probably have to find an after market place to fit in reverse sensors and cameras and maybe a different head unit since I can't get Dynaudio

                          ps Rendog, could you PM me where you got the car in QLD?

                          • Hi everyone,

                            I know there's not much love for the Golf 77tsi but .... just wanted to know whether or not this is a good deal:

                            Golf 77tsi (MY12)
                            * candy white
                            * DSG
                            * free 1st service
                            * floor mats (front & back)
                            * mud flaps
                            * full tank of petrol
                            $24,000 drive away

                            • We don't get many 77TSI prices posted here, but sounds pretty good to me!
                              I'd only clarify that the free 1st service is the 1 year/15,000km service with the oil change, and not some 1000km or 7500km "inspection" service where they don't actually do anything.
