Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

TP is for radio data (RDS) right? So stations can list their names or current song? Or is it for traffic?

My car is booping when i'm listening to HDD music, but if TP is for traffic, maybe it would boop at TP disconnect anyway. Will scan my radio and traffic settings.

Edit: there is no free traffic service in WA so that can't be it.

There is no free Traffic Service in QLD either but it stopped when i turned off the TP.

I think the sound is linked to the satelite receiver rather than the service.

TP is meant to interrupt any other music as part of the design. In the UK it works quite well when switched on as you get the traffic updates from the local radio stations without having to listen to their inane jibber-jabber...

As we don't get it here, all you get is the bong.

I'll be turning mine off then. Does it make any difference in tunnel such as Harbour or M5 where the tunnel operators broadcast messages? Thanks for that.

I think you're all right. Even when listening to HDD music the TP (Traffic Programme) icon stays at the top right of the RNS510 screen. I've turned it off and i bet it won't happen again. Thanks!
