Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Possible MFD malfunction?

I'm not sure this is a problem, but I've noticed that the MFD in my Mk6 GTI is not swtiching off after I have locked the car. When I used to remove my keys it would turn itself off but all of a sudden it's not staying on for a period after I have locked the car.

The only setting I've changed recently is to open all my doors with the remote, not just the driver's side.

    Any helpful suggestions please?

My MFD will illuminate for about 20 seconds (with the car silouette from above image on-screen) after I lock my car. If yours is doing the same, I'd say it's working as intended.

Well if people read this thread then they'll find there is no need to worry, rs73. Though i concede i should probably have put a ? in the title.

I swear my MFD never stayed on for 20 secs after the car was locked prior to yesterday. If that's normal, it's good to know thanks Adam.

          Zaul,
If you've changed hte way you lock/unlock the car, it may have something to do with the "welcome home" settings?

I looked at the "welcome home" settings and it aint that.

I don't know what's changed but something has. It's not a massive concern, more a curiosity about why it's suddenly decided to stay lit for several seconds after the car has locked when it didn't do it before.

              Hi Zaul,
didnt take any notice of mine until reading your posts.
It does the following....the car sillouette goes out when I turn the ignition off
and remove the key, but when I open the drivers door to exit the car, the silouette
then re-appears with the door open view.
I noticed last night, the sillouette then fades out at the same time as the interior
lighting does, didnt count seconds but approx 20 seconds later.

To whoever added the ? to my topic, thanks! I would've done it myself but knew not how.

Mine does that now GTImk6 but prior to a few days ago the whole thing used to go out when I removed the key.

When I opened the door the silhouette appeared but then once I locked the car, the MFD went off altogether. Now it stays on for some reason displaying the k's, time, and silhouette.
