Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

What's the solution there Corey with the fuel cap?

I've also found it a pain and end up wrapping it over the rubber hand grip on the nozzle.

      *runs to get his manual*

Read the manual, Ok I hang my cap on the side toward the fuel tank not the side away, this maybe causing the issue. We will see when I fill up later in the week.

I found these two to be one of the few bad points as well.

            good:
The engine. Smooth and silky. Naughtily revs past it's red line. Great power delivery and sounds great.
DSG. Best "auto" transmission I've had, but still prefer a manual.

            Bad:
Brakes. They stop the car fine, but I hate the brake pedal feel! Much too soft. Too much movement and not enough resistance. Actually thought there was something wrong, but the dealer says they are normal.
Stereo. Features are good but the interface is clunky and too slow.
            Automatic wipers are rubbish.

              GOOD:
The sound of the exhaust..Not as roarty as the Mk V I'm told, but I find myself turning off the radio and just enjoying it.
              The quality of the interior.
              Seats
The motor..understated when you want it to be..but full of zip if you give it some.

              BAD:
Automatic wipers - bit random aren't they?
              No light around ignition.
Water dripping in through window and doors sometimes when you open them.
..and to be really picky..the fact it needs to run on 98 ron.

Otherwise I'm enjoying it. No regrets with my purchase at all...apart from the fact there's too many CS ones around!

I would infinitely prefer intermittent wipers to rain sensing ones.

Holden are talking out of their rear end, the same connections are used if the stalk location is on the left or right hand side, no changes are needed to the vehicles systems and CAN bus has nothing to do with it.

I've found the exhaust sounds better inside the car in the MkVI but better outside the car in the MkV.

And I apologise for being another owner of a CS coloured one, though sounds like not as many here in NSW

CS or GM looks good on some cars (e.g. my bro have a gunmetal accord euro (previous shape) and it looks nicer than white or black ones).

I found on MK6 Golf there's a bit of a love/hate polarity around CS colour... white I was told is the popular so I can't find white and had to settle for black just for the fact that my wife doesn't like the type of bright red hue offered in GTI, and I was a bit bored with silver after having owned 2 silver cars before (and wife's previous car was also silver, and her bro's Alfa 147 also silver) over the past 13 years in Melbourne - we had gone through so many silver cars in the household...
