  • RDS on RCD510 doesn't work for certain radio station

    Hey guys,

When I got my MK6 GTI I had FOX FM listed as a preset. Then out of nowhere it disappeared.

I have done a factory reset on the unit and for whatever reason, Whenever I manually scan to 101.9 (FOX FM) it does not appear as FOX FM anymore. only as the radio frequency, and then after about 20seconds or so, the frequency disappars and I just get 3 lines (- - -)

I DO have RDS enabled, as all the other radio stations appear as you would expect. Its really odd!

Can anyone help with this one?

I am getting the car looked at for a leaking brake light cluster on Wednesday, Should I ask them to look at the headunit too and request a replacement?

It is such a minor thing I know, but its really annoying me, and for a 50K car this stuff should just not happen!

Sounds more like an issue with the actual radio station than the unit. RDS may be unavailable on that station for some reason.

      Good point.

Can anyone with a MK6 Golf and a RCD510 confirm if FOX FM appears on as FOX FM and not as - - - or 101.9???

On the topic of RDS, besides the name of the radio station, is there any more information available from this feature? Does the traffic info work?

my VW Jetta, used to display FOX FM, now it changes to 101.9 after a few seconds, still displays song name, seems to be on the radio station side and not the head unit. Also shows NO TP "top left of the screen" when tuned to FOX FM.

Maybe you just pressed something on the radio and changed some settings. Fastest way to find out, could be to look at the radio manual.

Do a forum search on "SUNA" and you'll get the answer to your last question.

As for the first question there is a heap of info available like station name, programme type, text for ads and currently playing song, traffic announcements (not TMC) but a voice announcement which pauses the CD/Radio and continues afterwards and so on. Most of this is not used in Australia as we're too backwards.

I picked up my girlfriends new car last night (2006 Jetta Turbo) and fox fm was not displaying like the others..... Tonight, it is fixed!! It must have been a Fox FM issue...

I came across the following and thought of your car - it is from a press review of the new 2011 Jetta. If you define quality as having good consistency, well it looks like they're doing ok.
