  • Owners/expecting owners in Canberra

I am interested in getting Ventureshield paint protection film installed on my new Golf due around the end of November. As there is no local installer in Canberra, I have been speaking to Andrew at Ozicozi in Sydney who has said that they will come down to Canberra and do an install here for an additional $100 on top of their usual prices, for a minimum of four cars.

I already have buy in from two other Canberra based Golf buyers who are also expecting their cars around end of November, so we only need one more vehicle (doesn't have to be a Golf!) to meet our minimum (although more are welcome).

If you're interested, or if you have any further questions, please let me know either in this thread or via PM. If you can provide info such as type of car, dealer you purchased from and expected delivery date, that would all be helpful.

We also need somewhere very clean, indoors and with access to power for the installation, if you know of somewhere available please let me know.

    Hi Simon,

Thanks for organising this - Much appreciated!

For others information, I'm already in so we still need another taker.

Check this thread out if you're sitting on the fence -http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f112...eld-43678.html

    Cheers,
    Gonad

          Hi Cameron,

Ozicozi do three standard 'kits', described on this page:

Surfacetech - A Typical Stoneguard Kit

The bonnet + bumper kit is $695. Full bonnet is an additional $275. If you get the GTechniq protective coating at the same time, it's an additional $295 (normally $595 on its own). I am happy to ask about costs for additional areas if you like. There is an additional $100 per car if we can get them to come down to Canberra.

            Hey Simon,

The bonnet + bumper kit is all I'd need. Count me in for that Just hope I can keep the car safe until then!

Edit: Unless I end up going to Toronto for 2 months to meet the GF's parents and have a nice xmas holiday, but I think thats going to be December - January (well thats what she said anyway haha)

              Hey guys,

Just a suggestion, i had my roof wrapped in 3M black vinyl at Autografika in Mitchell, and from what i can see it's essentially the same thing just with a clear wrap. If you gave the guys a call i'm sure they could source the product and not cost you the extra 100. Worth a call for a quote i think They specialise in wrapping vehicles in company logo's, etc. and told me it's what they really love doing.

They did a great job with my golf

and their customer service is brilliant. (always happy to shamelessly drum up customers for people who deserve it )

I will almost certainly be a starter. I'll now need to do a bit of research as to what I actually need/want. My new GTD should be in my sweaty hands at the end of November (coming from Moss Vale).

So - now that some of us have an update on the delivery of our cars, i have an update on the PPF installation possibilities!

Andrew from OZICOZI had quoted prices of $695 for the regular kit, or $995 if you want gtechniq paint protection as well, plus $275 for the full bonnet film (as opposed to the front half), plus $100 per car to come down to Canberra (min. 4 cars). (Total - $795 for regular kit installing in Canberra, $1070 with full bonnet).

Craig from Autografika (Autografika) has said that they can supply and install 3M Ventureshield PPF for $750 for the regular kit, plus $195 for the full bonnet (Total - $750 for regular kit (since Autografika are in Canberra), $945 with full bonnet).

                    As for detailing...

I've spoken with Saad (Obsession Car Detailing) from Canberra VW Owner's Club Forums (CBR VW OC) about detailing pre and post film application. He has said that a post-film sealant with three layers of Zaino sealant (recommended by DMS_Dan in this thread: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f22/...nce-34208.html) would cost around $130, and a full new car detail package (wash, paint decontamination, stage 1 paint correction, full vacuum inside, application of UV protectant and leather conditioner, sealant application (post paint film)) would cost around $500. You can see some of Saad's work here: My Detailing Thread - Golfmkv.com

So - since we now can get it all done locally, there is no group buy required to entice an installer down from Sydney, and thus there is no further co-ordination role for me. I will leave it up to all those interested to make their own arrangements.

Finally - I'd like to say a big "thank you" to Olaf the Golaf for suggesting Autografika, as a local installer does make things very easy for all of us, and I never would have found them otherwise.

Best of luck with all of your cars, and I look forward to seeing you on the road!

                      Thanks Simon.

So from you post, am I correct in assuming that your planning on getting the Ventureshield fitted, followed by a full new car detail package?

Is anything required prior to getting the Ventureshield?

                      Cheers

My plan is to split the new car detail package, with the clean and paint correction done before the film, and the sealant part after the film. This way I get the paint into the best condition I can, then film (with full bonnet), then sealant to provide the final protective surface over the film & non film areas.

I figure that that will give the paintwork the best start in life, 'cause the rest of it may not be so easy!

I don't believe anything is required before the film, the installer should clean the car before applying.

You want to make sure that the car is PERFECTLY clean BEFORE the application of Ventureshield and things like G|Techniq. So it is a good idea if you've already been driving the car for a while to get a detailer to prep the car... however, you just want them to be doing a thorough wash and then surface and paint cleaning, you don't want them to apply any polish or wax.
The guys that apply the Ventureshield and G|Techniq will then go over the paint again with an isopropyl alcohol type solution immediately before applying the film.
However, once the film is applied, you can't detail or wash it for at least 24 hours.

There is more information on the Ozicozi site

Edit: simonm just posted whilst I was typing that. simonm, are you sure that you want to be putting a sealant on top of the film? Ozicozi recommend a good wax, but don't mention a sealant, unless it's a Permanon type product.

Hi coreying, According to Mrk_Mickey and carcareproducts in this thread: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f22/...eld-43100.html , synthetic sealant is fine and adheres to the film as if it were paint. I have also heard the same from other detailers when I have been ringing up to enquire about a) Ventureshield and b) post Ventureshield treatment.

G|Techniq is also a synthetic paint sealant, and OZICOZI are quite happy to apply it on top of Ventureshield.
