Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Can the water be adjusted?

    Hi guys,

Everytime I pull back the wipers to have my front window clean, the water goes EVERYWHERE!! and its a mess. This is a MK VI GTI, the Driver's and passenger's window, bonnet and sunroof is wet and the only area that is dry is the area that the wipers can reach. Does anyone out there has the same problem? is there a way I can adjust the strengh of the water coming out?

    thx

lol... yeah, I'm sure you can adjust the spray direction of the nossles on a Golf, just like with any car.
On a side note, your bonnet being wet is probably because of the headlight washers because you have the Bi-Xenon. The windscreen nossles are located under the rear edge of the bonnet, so it'd be pretty hard for them to make your bonnet wet.

Does that mean if you have Bi-Xenons you should really only uses the screen washers with the lights OFF?

I think late model VW have digressive (sp?) washers. The nozzles send water all over the place

With the VW's every 5 window wash, give you I spray of the lights, or, if you have your lights on for an extended period of times, regardless of how many time you wash, it will wash the lights as well, has to do with Xenon being projective, not reflective - Euro Design Rule for Xenons
