Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Noise when getting in and out of car - Solved: Handbrake not engaged enough

    Hi,

I hope I am not asking a stupid question here.

I picked up my GTI last week. Both my wife and I notice noise when getting in and out of the car. It seems to be noise from the brake.

Does anyone notice the same thing and do I need to ask the dealer about this?

    Thanks.

    Like "Phew!"
But only applies to grossly overweight people!

I believe this was covered last week.
Something to do with the car prepping for being driven and all that jazz.

        Thanks Cossor and team_v.

Honestly both of us are around 70kg.. Does this classified as overweight people??

My old Yaris did not have this kind of noise.

If possible may I have the link to the thread from last week?

Are you talking about an electric pump noise when opening drivers door? Or a creaking noise from the rear brakes as if the hand brake is not pulled on hard enough and parked on a hill??

It's not easy to explain. Definitely not related to whether the car is parked on a hill as I hear the same noise even when getting in/out of my car in my building car park.

But it seemed to be similar to sitting down on to an office chair or an old chair... Are we really overweight!?

your not overweight, trust me...I'm borderline having my own postcode and mine doesn't make any sounds when I 'plop' in...must be something else.

Mine does it too, Its the Handbrake Take the handbrake off and test for yourself thats How I isolated the noise.
its not much of a bother.

if not handbrake (Sounds probable) check if it occurs as passenger exits. Check again with foot on brake.
Several cars I have had gave a bit of a 'creak' on exiting due to brakes..
Could also be upholstery material venting. Check on how quickly getting up or sitting.

I get noises from the handbrake if I don't pull them up hard enough, sometimes pretty loud too. But the dealer said that it was normal.
