So did you guys do anything special to get this blue box invitation thing?
I.e. did you sign up for information on the VWA website?
I can only think it has to do with the Golf GTI VI track day promotion that I won some time ago. Maybe they got my address from that time or they were impressed with my driving skills!
The blue box includes a letter which says it is inviting current R (as in 32 or 36) drivers to be the first to test the new R and that by informing your local dealer you are in possession of the card you will be bumped to the front of any test drive cue. The box includes a neck string with a laminated card attached that states "we'd like someone who knows the "r" to test drive the latest performance golf" on the reverse side the card reads cheesy "Golf R test driver" and ones name. It's good marketing work from VW but not really useful since I drove the R over a week ago
What a crock. I just walked in to Solitaire, sat in one and they threw me the keys.
Yes but you're just lucky I didn't pitch up at the same time with my magic card, they would probably have spat on you whilst kicking you out the front door
Bit disappointing as I thought it was a track day like when the time the GTI was introduced. Not sure what benefit they hope to gain from a casual test drive around the block. Would have been better having the opportunity to throw it around a track.
