  • Brisbane service centre recommendation please

    Hi to All,
My 15k service is due on my TSI and would like some feedback on the Brissie service centres please.
Price is obviously a criteria but would also like feedback on level of service etc. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Oh, BTW I live on the Westside, am thinking of Boettcher motors as they are the closest.
    Many thanks,
    Brian

I can highly recommend Highway Auto, prices are good, service is good, location is so so depending on where you work but they have loan cars (~$11 day) and I can't think of any problems that I've had with them.

I can strongly recommend that you avoid Austral unless you like high prices and so so service but the location is convenient if you're around the CBD. Do a search to see problems with Austral.

Haven't heard a lot of Ian's out at Ipswich but they seem ok.

Try Jmac as he is a forum member and has exceptional repute.

Alternatively, try Mike Webber - http://www.prestigeandperformance.com.au/

Avoid Austral still as even though last I heard a lot of the old Highway crew are there now, the customer service and the general attitude is still crap.

Highway has gone downhill of late. They're service department customer service has dropped off just as much as their sales department has. I haven't heard anything bad about the actual work there though, although I heard a lot of the mechanics have left or been poached by other dealers (could be wrong and it just might be just management instead). Pete (vwtech on here) is a mechanic there.

Dad's going to try Ian Boettcher Volkswagen out at Ipswich next time due to the good customer service he received on his extended warranty purchase from them and the fact that he's sick of the issues he's had with customer service at Highway (no fault in actual work done or the actual mechanics).

If you want an actual good price and very very excellent customer service you have four independent options that come highly recommended.
          1. Alba European (Jmac on here) - Jimmy is mobile and can come to you if you like.
          2. V A Garage (vagman on here) - Adam's workshop is down at Southport just off from Smith St
          3. Mike Weber Prestige & Performance - Mike has a workshop over at Cooparoo off Cavendish Rd
          4. German Auto - Lawrence has a workshop over at Geebung

The first three I can vouch for. I can't personally vouch for German Auto but there are others on here who can.

          Cheers,

Many thanks for your replies and advice. I had already crossed Austral off my list....
WRT the independents, what happens if some warranty issue arises?
I think Ill give Boettchers a try this time as they are the closest

              + 1 for Mike Webber

I have had the my last two services there and have found them to be very good. Sad thing is that I have Austral just around the corner from work but would let them near the car.

I've been very happy with Boettchers.
Purchased the Pirelli from them and always serviced there.
Now have Mk6 GTI and Tiguan from them.
I wont go anywhere else for servicing on these either.
Big thumbs up for JMAC, who is brilliant and does all the work on my MkIV.

Thanks Dash, Ive booked in with Boettchers for a couple of weeks time. Price is not cheap ($410) but I have a couple of minor warranty issues to clear up (one which Austral couldn't, or didn't want to, resolve), so will give them a go.
Sorry, dont know JMAC, where are they?
Thanks to all for your feedback

Jmac is a forum member here. He doesn't post much in the MK6 section, but he's very active in the Polo sections.
His company is Alba European, and he can come to you for the service

                        Thanks Coreying,
now that Ive re-read Trezas post I see he's (Alba European) listed as item 1 on the independents.
Will definitely be going to the independents if I have no warranty issues to resolve, the dub dealers are way too dear.
Thanks again to all for your input

                          No worries.
I will be taking my Tig to Jmac if it needs any non-warranty work as i have only heard glowing reviews of his work.

$300.50 for the GTI at Highway Auto for the 15K/12 month service so I'd expect the 118 TSI to be around the same.

$481 for the GTI at Highway Auto for the 30k/24 month service and $11 for the loan car.

                            Might be worth ringing around.

I found Highway charged less than one of the independents for the 15k/12 month service so you'll find their prices are pretty competitive.

Thanks Maverick, I'll go back to Boettchers with this price and see what happens. I would have thought the charge out rate for whats basically an oil change would have been a lot closer.
Still, Springwoods a lot further to go than Ipswich for me. (But not $110 worth of fuel!!!) - I can do 1400ks on that money
