    Agreed, even if they're only $2k more than leather, I'd still not option them for a daily driver.

    LOL yeh another $3k here, $2k there, $1k here. Adds up quick! Like most people, I just optioned the stuff I wanted/needed and think some items are better value than others.

    Wrong wheel colour but white in 3dr is much better than 5dr.

      I am now going to have to see about changing my order to an R.

      My car retails for around $52500r.r.p + on roads. I got a good deal on that.

      The R has Xenons and what else standard from my SIG list?

      A base GTI 3DR DSG is $41490.

      A base R 3DR R is $50990.

      =$9500

      but I could minus the standard prices off from the options.

      EG:
      XENONS = -(2K)
      So $7500 more right..

      SO Xenons.. anything else?

          Yeah but watch that difference grow as you add the options to the R. Sat Nav, MDI, Audo etc. Not to mention you'll be waiting until probably xmas.

            Yes But I have already optioned up over $10K in extras. And If the R comes standard with Xenons for example.. theres $2K gone also.

            Basically my car on road r.r.p comes in at around $58K. But I got a good deal.

            If I got a Base R With ACC, and Sat Nav.. laughing.. Andit costs me not too much extra..

            Mate Im already waiting till XMAS haha (Sept 30, in fact)

            I could basically trim a few, not all, options and get out of there for about $4-5K more considering.

              But that's the thing... the difference doesn't grow
              It remains $9500 except once you hit LCT and then it starts becoming an extra 33%

              But to answer your question REXman, (though it's been mentioned on page 1)....
              From your specs, you've got the Bi-Xenon ($2000) and Metallic Paint ($500) and 18" wheels ($1200), bringing the diff down to $5800 for your options.

              Also, whether you like it or not you have the tints ($400) and the front and rear PDC, which even if you only put a value of $1000 on, brings the diff between GTI and R to $4400. For which you get better brakes, suspension, engine, the AWD system and different interior and exterior styling etc.

                Well I'll speak to my dealer tomorrow. He's been great up to now so lets see how he goes with this.

                I only ordered my car last week and it hasnt gone through yet as its a MY11 build (start to be built in july). He checked 2 days ago and couldnt give me a bin yet as the order has nothing on it yet.. here's hoping.

                  Golf R Specifications and Prices

                  Can I just ask how the R has a better engine? It has a higher output of kw but uses the mk5 engine to achieve this how does this make it a better engine?

                    Seeing these R seats for the first time with their white highlights.....

                    Immediately reminded me of the Skoda Octavia RS interior.

                      It's got an older engine, may not be better but is higher output. Once you tune the GTI the only advantage is really the AWD and R badge. Still has the cam follower problem too i believe.

                      The interior/exterior across the models is very similar but the recaro's would be awesome.

                      I think he means watch the final price go up when you start adding options.

                          From Mavericks site and the article on the differences between the Golf GTI (MK5) and GTI Pirelli and S3 engines etc
                          * Larger Turbo from S3 (K04) rather then the K03 on the GTI
                          * 87°C thermostat instead of 80°C
                          * Larger capacity fuel injectors (13% higher flow)
                          * Larger intercooler
                          * Engine block main bearing caps, pedestals are reinforced
                          * Conrods have larger rod bolts and new bearings
                          * Pistons have 21mm gudgeon pins instead of 19mm
                          * Piston top ring is improved
                          * Recirculation Valve (blow off valve) not located on turbo
                          Since then the MK6 GTI engine has obviously changed, and one of the main improvements is lower fuel consumption, lower emmissions and changing to a timing chain rather than the belt, but these "higher end" differences above are still not included.

                          But please. This is the Golf R Specifications and Prices thread. I think we've done the GTI vs R price thing enough. We shouldn't even be on the GTI vs R which is better topic. So lets leave that one alone before I have to go and "clean up" the thread

                          EDIT: I have decided to do a thread cleanup. I've left as much ACTUAL information as possible, and posts with pictures, and removed posts which are just GTI vs R vs whatever.
                          I've also merged out the 'MY 11 Bluetooth' posts to a new thread and put it into the VW Car Audio and Electronics forum.

                          Thanks for everyone's understanding

                                I sat in one last night. Dealership had 2 grey ones, 1 standard and one with the black 19's on it.

                                GTD there also.
