Good answer. But what about a real GTI alternative which isn't a bogan special ?

Second hand 130i or 330Ci or Alfa 159 (it looks mean in black with a tint)

or, for something a little different:

Jeep Wrangler - Fully Loaded Man would approve.
118TSI, DSG, Candy White, Sunroof, RCD510, Dynaudio, USB + iPod cable, Reversing Camera, Adaptive Chassis Control, Prem. Bluetooth, Fogs, Tint and Mats.

Interesting, as i've currently got the Alfa 159 and considering replacing it with the girly GTI or R
Maybe i should just get a SS V8 Ute and be more manly.
But i reckon the Golf's in general are a bit girly, but most of the alternatives are too bogan (falcadore's) or not fast enough for the same money.

I may have to get some pumped guards sometime...

Anyway the lesser models are more girly but still better than most other cars of the same price ie hondas/fords etc.

Lol those are poser's cars, not rare to see two happy gym buff's driving around together.

A holden SS? Ford XR6 Turbo? Sedan's.. not to mention the UTE's !!!

                  Definitely.

Other than that, the WRX, and any of the hot hatches really. XR5 Focus, MPS, they are all more aggressivley styled and look tough, they're boys cars. Not the Civic as this is still seen as pretty soft. As does the Peugot.

The golf gti ALMOST looks like the base golf's. Almost.

But as GOLF GTi enthusiasts, we know how well these cars handle and how well they are built so its all good. I bought mine not to strand out anyway.

But yeah as a car enthusiast - I dont look at a TSI 103, 118 etc and think "yeah, thats solid" Cause for the money you could have so much more aggressive If you wanted to do. But you went plain looking hatch. GTI does not look that much more aggro either.

They are some of my previous rides, and although not crazy Torana's.. I definitely think thats what a non-girly car looks like.. Compared to..

But I am definitely comfortable with the idea of my GTi thats coming to me soon!! Just lets not lie to ourselves.

                  Oh and the MY11 WRX..

Or for REAL manliness, how about a E55 Mercedes. That 5.5L supercharged V8 really does have 'balls of meat'

                      This one will do:

WOOT...not many of us! I did like the DSG, don't get me wrong. But thought it would get boring real fast. Always engaged with a manual, and I must say the gearbox on the GTI is very fun to shift. Even in traffic I don't get annoyed.

Which is why their appeal is limited. Most VWs apeeal across gender and age.
Your Carbon Steel will look good on the road.

yeah i would imagine, especially with that spec list you've got going that car sounds like it would be a blast to drive!

You know I was that set on trying something different, getting the DSG, i ignored the fact that the GTI MK6 manual felt sooooo good. Sort of wish I got the manual. I did love that blip the throttle makes when downshifting, and I found apparently the manual makes the pop sound anyway.
All I have ever owned are manuals so i thought, "try it now" on the GTi cause who knows when Ill go an auto ever again..

Can i ask you, did you that midrange 2000-3000rpm rattling/pinging sound on your car?
