  • Demo GTI stock in Sydney - What's available?

Can anyone that's been around the Sydney dealers recently let me know if any of them have the following options on their demo cars:-
    18inch Detroit Wheels + ACC
Also wouldn't mind seeing one with Bi-xenon lights.
    Thanks.
(This is for a test drive, not to buy)

Welcome to the forums. However, you're really best to call around to the dealers themselves for a query of this type. Just because a dealer has a car meeting those specs in their lot, doesn't mean that it is available for test driving. So the only people who could give you any accurate information are the dealers themselves, and there is only a very few of them on this forum.

hey mate, as someone who has just spent ALOT of time going around the dealers in Sydney looking for a GTI, I can tell you that the chances of you finding one with those specs to test drive is slim to none. Each dealer basically has two models to test drive: manual and DSG, both bare bones in terms of options.

in fact, there are only a handful of cars available in the country in general to buy...few coming in on the boat.

I went to bill buckle, and barloworld..probably the two biggest dealers in sydney..both only had the DSG and manual to test, with no extra options...bill buckle doesn't even have one in the showroom!!! haven't had one for a month now.

There's heaps out there. Go to Parramatta Dealer or Campbeltown VW. Both excellent C.S. DO NOT go to Barlo Mascot- reminds me of that old movie the big steal.

Had a look on the weekend:
Chatswood had a Red, DSG, Leather with 18's
Also a Silver one with 18's don't remember what else it had.

Waitara had a White, DSG, 18's, Bi-xenon, Sat-Nav, Rev-camera, leather, Sunroof. (almost fully loaded)
They also had a Black one with DSG, Bi-xenon.

None had ACC but I at least I could try one with 18's.

Funny you should say that. I was at Barloworld Mascot on Saturday. The dealer delivery on the new Polo's was higher than the VW recommended, and much higher than most other dealers charging. $2495 for DD on a new Polo!? WTF!

I bought my wife's car from Barlo at Mascot.

My salesman, Oliver, was probably the best car salesman I've ever come across. Knowledgeable, friendly, not pushy, gave us all the time in the world, let us test drive the cars alone etc.

AND we got a 11-12% discount without any trouble.

AND he keeps me regularly updated re the progress of the build.

I would recommend him to anyone in the market for a VW.

I spoke to Oliver for all of 30 seconds.... which was basically him giving me the keys to a new Polo 1.2TSI to test drive... They had more customers than sales people and I could wait around - maybe he'll call me back this week, who knows.
I've no doubt that they can be good. In fact there have been other people who have praised people there in other threads (and to be fair, equal as many who have had bad stories), all I'm saying is, they are starting with inflated prices to begin with. Much easier to give a % discount when you've already jacked up the dealer delivery by more than it should be. It's actually twice of what I know a few dealers have been charging for the Polo, and more than some charge for the Golf GTI....

Are you thinking of buying the Polo 1.2L ?

Was looking at it for a few friends/family that were interested in the car. I was super impressed at the 1.2TSI Manual. I wanted to try a DSG version, but they didn't have a demonstrator for that. But yeah - great car. My 6'1" girlfriend had no issues with headroom once the seat was adjusted properly for her - so can't really call them a 'little' car anymore either
