PS ITs actually $120, sorry about that. I just asked her and got confirmation of the price. Just to be correct.
It's $120 2007 to 2008 compliance Corolla's, and $130 on 2009 complianced Corolla's onwards. Also, it's not for life, it's only for 6 services. Since they're serviced twice a year (if <=20k per year) then that means only your services during warranty are $130 and then it reverts to ?? whatever they'd normally charge I'd guess. This information is straight from the Toyota Servicing website.
Prior to this deal starting, even the Yaris was costing around $180-230 per service at Toyota Pennant Hills or Castle Hill. Putting it around the cost of the MKV GTI to service (due to 6 month vs 12 month).
I 100% agree, every sucsesful busines makes heathy profit.
Exactly. Dealerships are businesses, not charities. People would do well to remember that. All this constant whinging from people (in multiple threads) about the price of things is really starting to make coming to this site a miserable experience. If you don't like the price someone quotes you for something, then stop whinging and go elsewhere. If a particular business is really charging unreasonable prices, then the market will sort that out in time.
Using Toyota's subsidising of fixed price servicing is a poor example. It's a marketting campaign meant to try and keep Toyota in the #1 spot as they are losing sales to many other brands. For all we know, they're adding the "reduction" in servicing cost to the price of the cars (which if you've compared the base model Corolla recently to the Golf 77TSI is a very probable case), or to the servicing costs after your "fixed price" servicing count is up.
They're now also subsidising finance packages. 2.9% p.a. for car loans when the RBA cash rate is 4.75%...
Completely agree again! I know I won't be loosing sleep over servicing prices and just want to enjoy the car for what it is!!.....once I finally get it.
Unfortunately, this site is a very negative place to be at times....C'mon people, we only live once! More positives!!!!
Part of the cause why the VW prices are a little bit higher than average is that VW Head office adopted the European practice and dealers aren't allowed to buy the oil from the oil company of their choice. Some of you maybe noticed that Castrol VW504.00/507.00 comes from Germany now, and as a result, it costs more. It retails approx. $28.00 per 1L bottle.
I see it as a positive step from the engine point of view, since anything can happen to the oil before it gets into your engine's sump.

That's the best post I've red in MK6 section today, ...actually for a long time! I thank you for that and I think that 14 pages about 15,000km servicing is enough for a while and we should take a brake.
Please, try to be more positive. Life is not just money.
