  • Drink holder

Is there a part missing or option for fixing the front centre drink holder? That is the one in front of the hand brake with the sliding cover.
I find that nothing sits there without spilling, it needs a bracket or clip to support the container.

And if there is a VW part anyone know the part number?

Maybe you didn't get the bottle opener, or you haven't removed it from the bottom of the holder and placed it in the slot.

they should of given you bottle opener.... it slides in there and makes it all OK....
but I would not put anything without a proper cover in it.... its not fantastic

      p.s.
it feats nicely anything in stubby-holder .... bottle opener + beer holder Im not saying anything but thats a strange combo for the car

My GTI bottle opener was stolen before delivery as well. It seems to be a pretty common thing. Dealer is ordering one in for me but I went ahead and paid 15 dollars for one on ebay from a seller in Australia. I did not want to wait months for it to come, I need a functional drink holder! here is the auction.

Not sure about the MKVI but along the door trim of the MKV there is a drink holder as well, but as previously stated, i wouldn't trust putting anything without a lid/cover in this one!

The bottle opener can actually be adjusted to fit the cups more tightly as you can slide it forward or backward.

The MKVI has that as well.

And yeah the bottle opener sits in the slot to hold the bottle in place.

This is covered in the manual, worth reading as you'll learn lots of things about your car!

In fact the bottle opener is probably in the manual waiting to be fitted.

Many new cars are delivered without them.

My MKVI GTI was delivered minus bottle opener. The Sales guy went and grabbed one from the service dept forme. He told me not to lose it as it costs $60 to replace.

My MKv GTI had one in it already when I picked it up. It was in its recess on the floor of the cup holder compartment. Took it out and slid it in the slide ecess, never had a spillage problem yet.

I've got one but dont use it. I find its easier if I just put the drink in, then use the sliding door to squeeze it in place. Works just as good as the bottle opener.

I got it with my 118TSI along with the spare key. Dealer had tagged it with the key set! It is really a good thing to have, but as everyone commented, you cant really put any drinks with our lid/cover. I had a bad spill once I got a Mcdonalds take away...
