Average time between ordering and receiving a build date

I got an email from my dealership with ETA data and it stated that the car left Germany on the 29/04... and arriving in Melbourne on the 09/06. So by my calculations it must be on the Queen Sapphire. I have tired tracking it but to no avail.... if it is on there our cars are probably next to one another

And if all goes well I will be in my car on the same day as yours... That means there will be 2 more happy GTI owners

I got the info from the dealer and couldn't track it either. I've been through this exact same thing with my MINI but it is getting a bit more exciting now...As I wrote earlier, my VIN number has all those numbers you posted (plus a couple more) so they are definitley brothers...

I have had a read through the posts and if all goes well we will be able to track the vehicles on Thursday/Friday. Right now the Queen Sapphire is about to leave Southampton for Port Elizabeth... exciting stuff!

By the way, I had a feeling that it would be on the Queen Sapphire due to the build date so I spent all day Friday watching the ship get loaded via the webcam...

Where is that shrink now? LOL

To answer the original question, it took me exactly 27 days between ordering and the car being built. My dealer passed on a VIN# to me 33 days after placing the order, and it leaves port bound for Botany Bay (or somewhere nearby) on the 11th May.

I feel a bit silly for feeling so excited by the dates, it been years, a bit like a kid counting down the 12 days of Christmas....

I was lucky. I went into Pickerings in Townsville at the end of May looking at a Passat wagon and was keen on the TDI. Only problem was my current lease ends at the end of Aug. Fortunately the dealer was able to source a vehicle that was already on the boat heading to a dealer who hadn't sold it yet. It has everything I need and I wasn't to fussed on the colour (reflex silver).
It left Aukland yesterday and should be in Brisbane on Monday. Signed the contract on 6 June and should have it in my hands in the next couple of weeks.
To be honest, was was never interested in a VW (although always thought they were a class car) but thought I would look at everything that was in the size/price bracket I was looking at. My other options were Calais/V sportwagon, Subaru Outback/Liberty or heaven forbid a people mover. I sat in the Passat and was sold almost immediatly. Then i drove one. I cant wait to get my hands on it.

I ordered my GTI March 14th and it arrived in Melbourne on the 14th of June (exactly 3 months!)

I am still yet to pick the car up however... It will be a month this Wednesday...

I was originally told it would not be ready until late August/Early October and now im told it will be a mid July pickup (which is next week)

So heres hoping!!!

I've got one on order but have no info on a Vin number/Comm number etc as yet, only thing i have is the expected delivery date of Nov 30th as stated on the contract..
