I agree! (I did start a thread titled 'if Golf's came in a wider selection of colours, what would you choose?")
What gets me is that they come in every colour of the rainbow... why if we can order specs, can't we order any colour? Growl growl!

Up for debate, but the color selection suits the image of the car - classy, understated, and simple. Having this car in falcadore lime green or bright orange would be a bloody eyesore. That being said the more sporty versions of the Golf (R / GTI) does come in appropriately sportier colors to suit.

Personally the white / reflex silver / shark blue on the 118TSI just remind me of colors that are most found on rental econoboxes. As for the black being harder to maintain, this is definitely true, but what color car doesn't look terrible after not being washed for 2 weeks?

Candy white comfortline with the sports pack looks awesome. White is a safe colour, if left in the hot sun all day it will be a lot cooler than a black car. My current order is candy white, there isn't too many nice colours to choose from in the Golf range.

Crap. The dealer only had Shark Blue, but hey, Once I get thye body kit and 18's, it should look pretty cool! I would have chosen the grey if they had it, or the Candy White.

If you were being rational it woud have to be candy white:

            1) Best heat rejection
            2) Least fading
            3) Non-metallic so you can touch up small chips and scratches DIY without them showing
            4) Highest visibility
            5) Cheapest
            6) Goes longer between washes in summer (in winter it depends on where you live - dark road grime really shows)

As for aesthetics I like the crisp clean white, but my wife thinks its a boring color. VW Australia has the most conservative color line-up since the model T ford.

              How do you figure this?

The R comes in the same Candy White, Reflex Silver, United Grey, and Deep Black Pearl tones that the TSI/TDI's do. The ONLY colour is Rising Blue Metallic.

The GTI comes in the same Candy White, Reflex Silver and Deep Black Pearl tones that the TSI/TDI's do. They substitute the United Grey for Carbon Steel Metallic. The only colour is Tornado red.

Again - two 'sports' models, only a single colour in each, that's pretty damn boring!

Agree completely, come on VW if we are customising orders can't we get the same colours as those in Europe do?

Agree with Corey and nicandlance - the Golf colour choices are pretty bad. At least the wagon gets a nice-looking deep blue.

Where's the love for the red, though? That was my first choice. I ended up ordering a white one instead, because I could get my car quicker that way. The United Grey and the black don't look half bad either.

Cheers for your input guys. My thoughts now are as follows: still leaning towards Black, but may change my mind last minute at the dealer to White if I see a really nice one in the showroom

Dirt/cleaning I don't forsee as a big issue on a Black car as it will be garaged whilst at home and also parking at work is undercover. Washing the car every 1-2 weeks I would probably do with a new car anyway, regardless of colour.

Only issue now is what colour leather to get??? Black on Black, or Beige on Black? Thoughts?

(PS. As BBP said, there are a lack of high res pics of Mk6 TSI in CW. If anyone owns one please feel free to post a pic of your pride and joy)

I know it all comes own to opinion but I think it is definitely one of the nicer more classier colours on the golf....

                      Stoney!

P.s. I accidently hit blue just before I hit vote! So -1 for shark blue and +1 for united grey lol

I agonised over this. The beige leather looks a treat in pictures. A real treat in fact.

BUT, when I saw it for real at a dealer (and car was new), it was already getting noticeably grubby on the driver's seat, the inside of the door sills and the console. On a new car ! That's not good enough for me.

You should also bear in mind that VW leather is not particularly high quality, at least on the Golf, so it will only look good for a couple of years. It is not like the leather you get in a Jaguar, so if you MUST have leather, black is probably the best bet, but remember to keep the leather preserver up to it !

I've never really understood people asking questions like "what colour should I get?" It's your car, get the colour you like best.

In saying that I think the Shark Blue looks unique and could look nice with some bigger rims. Otherwise black or white. Not a big fan of greys and silvers myself.

See? Urbane and sophisticated, just like I said. Mine causes such a stir on the freeway that drivers all around me have to hurry away from me as quickly as they can because their cars are just so bland.
