I wouldn't think it's about OCD etc. I would think it's about pride in the car you drive! Maybe you just don't care about your GTI as much as others do?!

im new to this forum, first time posting and like so far only one person has answered my question and whats wrong with just typing GTi, i could of typed gTi or Gti or even gti...does it realli matter...? and the only reason i type GTi is because , on like msn etc it comes up with GTl and sometimes it might cause confusion. It's not like you dont understand what im talking about anyway... its just the way i type it. Also some members type it as GTi as well, i dont see the need to start an argument about this?

You get that sometimes but most people are proud of owning a GTI, and don't want to encourage homie/msn talk and bad spelling as it's annoying to read.

Anyway with your problem sounds like you should drop into the dealers and see if they think it's normal or not.

          Cheers,

It's not about being a smart a$$....it's about conversing in volkswagenspeak.

And I think that the forum doesn't like msn homie type speak either. So...it may pay to refresh yourself with the forum rules, before you get a slap on the wrist. (I'm only trying to be helpful...so don't get all bunched).

Im pretty sure maverick was being a smart ass , he could of just said " You shouldnt type it as GTi cause GTi is a suzuki swift" but instead he goes " its GTI not a GTi, u mean a suzuki swift i think your on the wrong forum" Thats a pretty smart ass comment.

I do not want to start a further argument but perhaps you should drop into the dealer yourself and ask, or look at your own contracts. On my papers for purchasing a Golf GTI the dealer has in all instances documented it as GTi - and this is straight from their computer documentation. This is the second GTI I have bought and to save uneducated forum members from going of the deep end I type GTI, but as you can see by my name it means the same to me as GTi. Time everyone got over this issue and accepted that is referred to in both ways and just be happy we have a Golf GTI to talk about.

For someone with a large "GTi until I die" in your sig you should at least know something about the car before making such a bold statement. Volkswagen only refer to it as a 'GTI' and anyone who takes any time to learn about it should know this.

Take a chill pill and learn how to construct a readable sentence, no-one worries too much about spelling and grammar but making an attempt will go down well and get you more responses.

Maverick, if you've read the post above you would know why some people write it as GTi. Also dont tell me to take a chill pill when your the one that started being a smart ass about it.

I never got any "boom" sound when downshifting but would get violent jolting downshifts in S mode only on the odd occasion. After months of being told "It will learn how you drive....." they finally agreed to replace the Mechatronics unit. Now its all sweet.

I don't know why people would call it a GTi when it's a GTI and this has been pointed out to them. Anyway feel free to over-react as often as you like.

Guys - leave the personal back and forth stuff behind, if you can't post nicely to each other, then don't post! Any further and there will be infringements issued.

As for GTi vs GTI - I don't care what someone's friend has said, or what some administration staff member working at a dealership (as GTi Crow has said), I only care what Volkswagen call the car. It's a Volkswagen Golf GTI, in Australia, the UK, in Germany, in the USA and on the Wiki.

Along similar lines, it won't be called not a GTd, it will be called a GTD.

So anyway - there is 4 official and 1 ancilery source all saying it's GTI, so we can now bed that issue can go back to the initial topic of this thread.... Driving in the S transmission on the DSG mk6
