  • Would you recommend getting these rims for my wife's Golf VI 90 TSI?

    Hi,
Just bought my wife a Golf VI 90 TSI. The car looks good but I can't stand those 15" rims. I saw this on eBay. Price seems reasonable. Would you recommend it? It doesn't say what tyres they put on those rims though. Should this be a cause for concern?

    Thanks guys (and gals

They look good, but i would check ont he brand of tyres before getting them.

Also make sure when you get them fitted that you get a full wheel alignment done.

And like Steph said, make sure your wife is okay with them.

Hooolld up - these are shoes for cars!
What does your wife like? My husband likes totally different shoes compared to me... You have to check with her first - or is she not fussed...?
PS - you definitely need a good set of soles on the shoes too - check what brand they're sending over with then and maybe post back up with the brand?
(nice set of wheels too by the way!)
I'm going to the pub... I may be some time...

Hmm. Yet another thread on Rims. Should I merge the 20+ threads on wheels in the MK6 forum into the one thread and just sticky it or something?

These are copies of the 18" "Omanyt" rim from the MkV R32. A couple of users on these forums have the imitation rims... have a look in the MkV forum - search for Omanyt. Also have a good read of the threads discussing St George Tyres as a company to deal with; everyone's mileage varies, but I would point out that some people don't appear to be 100% happy with the service from St George. Several rim/tyre shops do sell Omanyt copies, incidentally - google "VW R32 rims" and you'll find a few results.

When it comes to the tyres, you can bet they won't be wonderful rubber in that auction. Even if your wife drives her 90 TSI 'agriculturally', I'd never recommend skimping on good rubber - grip improves safety, regardless of how fast she drives. I personally would buy the rims without tyres, and get my tyres from tirerack.com (great prices on good tyres, even after factoring in shipping from the USA).

Thanks for all the replies. I will check what tyres they come with tomorrow. Shipping is quite a bit though. Maybe I should just search locally here in W.A.

Just a clarification on that.... freight on 18" tyres from tirerack.com is around US$250 (got a quote last week). Freight on rims with tyres fitted is likely to be more due to weight.

But either way, the prices come out way below Australia for quality tyres, even after the US$250 in shipping.
