2009 headlights on 2010 build Golf?

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knew if there would be any problems fitting March 2009 Golf 6 headlights to a just built (2010) Golf 6?

Why? well I was just thinking that I might be able to get my hands on an old pair to mod without having to risk stuffing up my original ones. (not that I can anyway as my Golf is still a couple of months away!

I'm not sure if there are many people here who could say for sure (Maverick, one of the VW Dealers etc), but as far as I'm aware (and I'm positive it hasn't been mentioned in this forum if there was a change) there has been no change in the headlights since the introduction of the MK6.

Should fit as i don't believe they have been changed.
Might be able to pick up a set from a vw wrecker, and check oemplus/ecstuning/tmtuning etc to see if it would be cheaper to get some from there.
Make sure they are RHD specific lights though.

It may be obvious and I am not seeing it, but what is the difference between RHD and LHD headlights? I would have thought they are all the same.

Actually on this point (and slightly off the topic) as I understand it, the difference between the LHD and RHD LED tail lights is the position of the rear fog light. However, Kauftec sell the adapters of the LED tails lights and state that they are not suitable for RHD. I don’t get what the difference would be in adapters? If it is just the fog light, then why would you just not swap the left cable with the right etc?

I want to have a go at adding LEDs inside the headlight housing, similar to Audi style DRLs. Not quite sure how I am going to do it but I don’t want to experiment on my original headlights

Some of the headlight assemblies sold in America are made for LHD so the right hand light uses a more raised angle due to the camber of the road.
If you put these on a RHD vehicle, it will shine into the face of oncoming traffic.

Make sure that the headlightsd are adjustable too if you can, that will allow you to allign them to suit our roads.




LED lights inside the plastic casing could be done, you would just need a heat resistant glue-like product to stick it down and drill a hole through the light assembly for the wiring.
Make sure you don't block the light beam with the LED strip though.

Ahh, I did not think of that. I dont have my Golf yet, does anyone know if the Golf standard headlights are adjustable?

I am keen to give this a go, just not on my originals.

What are peoples thoughts on “angel eyes” I would love to see some photos (if any exist) of “angel eyes” on a Golf. ....might have to have a play with photoshop.

Team V is correct, it is about the slant from the light. It slant more towards the LEFT so you can see if someone runs out of the road. And it help not to daze the driver from the oncoming traffic.

Please do all of us a favor and pick the correct one if you are going to retrofit and OEM headlights. And please if you are going for Xenon then get it as an Option from VW and don't get one of those cheapy Ebay set. Because the lighting will be all over the place and blinds everyone on the road.

Same goes with LED, some has bad light angles and are too bright. You don't want people blinded by the incorrect fitted light and rear-end you.

Agree with this one.
Make sure you tilt the LED's downwards as to not blind people in front of you.
