  • GTI engine note overpowering?

Received my GTI today. I am smiling all the way home. The car engine drown the sound system. The sporty note of the engine would destroys your enjoyment of music. For the owner of Dynaudio upgrade, what is your experience?

The difference is the music now destroys my enjoyment of the engine.

You wouldn't need to turn the music up that loud before you can't hear the engine..

The gti sounds cool anyway and not really that noisy??

maybe my GTI is a little different, but its extremely quiet, and discreet,
no problems with engine drowning out the music,

in fact I wish it had a little bit more character to its note.

Admittedly I've only driven the GTI once on my test drive. It had a nice engine note to it, but certainly not over the top. Not enough to drown out music anyway.

Maybe you need to elaborate a bit more. Did your car come with an APR exhaust from the factory?

I assume you had the windows down the whole time you took the long way home?

Maybe he's driving a MKV and the exhaust has fallen off?
Or maybe he hasn't found the volume control for the stereo yet. I too haven't spent a lot of time in the MK6 yet, but I fail to see how I'd be possible for the engine to drown out the stereo! hehe

I had a milltek on the R32 and that didn't even drown out the stereo (admittedly after market stereo too but never felt i needed it that loud).

OK folks, just got home. I know, its mid-night. I guess this is the first sporty car I have driven. Previous cars was Merc ML and was driving my wife's XC60 T6 until today. The turbo in the Volvo was quiet unless I floored it. The GTI seems to have this humming noise that I guess I have to get use to. I actually enjoying the car with the stereo system off. This car is indeed sweet and seems to reach 100km very quickly

The DSG fart/pop is a cool sound, i'd prob like listening to the car than to the stock stereo .

Sounds like you should do an aftermarket stereo upgrade if music is of importance.. My setup was high end and the difference was amazing.

So now we've established that this thread has nothing to do with the sound system, DonkeyKong, do you wanna suggest a better name? Otherwise I'll rename it myself

I'm thinking "GTI engine note overpowering ?" or something like that.
