get what u want and need when its gone be time to change follow the same approach that will keep u happy
    am I wrong ?
Even if you do get all the options, after a while people get used to things or bored easily.. also wonder if things are greener on the other side etc.

I don't see the point in going all out unless you know that you'll keep the car for 5 years. Situations change and it's just money down the drain.

Rarely are the options (nowadays) things that you "need"

Within 5 yrs we will be laughing at the fact people paid $2500 for optional sat nav. It will become standard in some form or another.

On the other hand I can't see the price of leather or a sunroof dramatically decreasing in the next 5 yrs.

I think u missing the point .... if you planing to think 5 years in advance why getting a car now ... in 5 years we might be switching to flying nuclear powered self drivable cocoons that will also give BJ as an extra feature....

the point is if you want some spoils in you life get it now coz in 5 years U might not be there

The work is neither fast nor inconspicuous, but apparently it can be done, although I expect thieves would simply prefer to obtain the correct keys by some means.
That doesn't apply to Volkswagen unless you plan on replacing multiple modules which is pretty near on impossible as the doors are deadlocked and you would have to work upside down in the car whilst also removing trim that requires the doors to be open to remove easily just so you can replace modules.

Even if you did manage that you need to connect it to Volkswagen server in Germany (or the USA for the US market) to code it up plus VAG are moving towards encryption between different modules as well to make it even harder.

So it still remains that the only way to steal a VW is to flatbed it or take the owners keys.

Because you can already see the trends now with sat nav and aux interfaces.

Australia is a fair way behind, why would they provide sat nav standard when they can charge extra for it? Which cars come with standard sat nav now probably none?

Bluetooth and USB/iPod should be standard though like BMW.

Mazda 3 - Max Sport version (mid spec model, and only in the mid $20K's for petrol version) has Sat Nav as standard in a recessed 10 inch screen.

Is it REAAAALLY a 10" screen? Looks more like 1.0" screen from the photos I'd seen.

problem is its fixed and its a bit too far ... so you end up with a OK size screen which u cant really see coz its far and there is no way to adjust it .... I really liked the idea but....

But... you aren't meant to look at the screen when using sat nav (as opposed to programming it). It should all be voice turn by turn or just a big direction arrow.

So many people seem to spec the MDI cable you would assume they all have iPhones. Sat nav on that is very cheap $80 app. Just buy a ClicOn cradle for the iPhone (or any sat nav phone) and you are set.

But still, you're saying that this tiny little screen is 10" ?
I mean, the VW RNS-510 sits in the centre console, takes up a majority of the width available and is only 6.5"

How could the little screen in this picture be 10"?

Sorry... I just couldn't believe the 10" claim, so I looekd it up. According to the Mazda site, not only is it recessed a looooong way into the dash and away from the driver, but it's only 4.1" screen. Hence why it looks SOOOO damn small. lol

                            10" - seroiusly! hehe

I didn't want charging cables and mounts everywhere.
                                RNS510 rocks.
