  • Buying a GTI in SE QLD

Anyone have any recommendations of VW dealerships and salesmen to negotiate my new GTI
My minimum specs are Mk6 GTi White, 5 door, DSG, , 18" Detroits, MDI, Bluetooth, ACC.

Any help or advise is apprecreciated. After reading the other posts, I am tempted to add Dynaudio to the list but not sure how much that would delay the car. I would like it by end May 2010.

    Thanks

    James

Best i could do was with Highway Auto (Springwood)

I would reccomend looking in the dealer section of the forum and see if there are any close enough that you could arange a discount with and fly down to pick the car up from.

I believe Central Coast VW (Gosford, NSW) are doing good deals at the moment and they are located close to an airport.
worth a $100 flight if you can save more than that.

        Agree.

I went to Austral and they didn't even contact me back.
I called them another 2 times and then gave up.

I went to Northstar as i heard good things about them but the salesperson i spoke to left and the new salesperson could only give me a deal of 1,300 more than the drive away price that was advertised on tv.

I believe Central cost vw are doing good discounts at the moment.
The reduction in import duty helps as well.

Thanks guys, great advise. How do you go with registering the car in Qld rather than NSW. Is that a problem?

Ian Boettchers VW in Ipswich has been great.
Also won regional dealership of the year 2009
I dealt with Paris Arthur (Mr) the Sales Manager.
Also been good with after sales support with the Pirelli.

I'd recommend you try there before going interstate.

So you don't have to worry about having to pay stamp duty in both NSW and QLD or anything like that?
When I wanted to buy a car which was already registered in VIC and bring it to NSW, VICROADS made it such a pain in the butt that I ended up not bothering!

When I was looking at getting the Golf I was considering a deal with Burwin but it was too complex getting the car back to Brisbane and getting it registered that I gave up on that idea.

Another reason why we should have one transport department for all of Australia, a national drivers license and nation registration/ctp.

The savings on duplication alone would be hundreds of millions a year and they could offer cheaper registration and ctp.... pftttt as if, they'd blow all the savings on something stupid

Good, so it wasn't just me that had issues when I looked at buying a car from VIC!

I've no idea whether buying from NSW and taking it to QLD is any different, but I'd be very surprised if it were as simple as lawsy82 suggested?!

It should be. Typically you go into a NSW RTA Office and purchase a Permit to transport unregistered vehicle. Drive it to QLD and do your rego.

Not sure what the costs are these days or if there is a time limit , but we have certainly done that previously for trailers and caravans. Same "should" apply to a new Car. Should also not require any inspections either.

The NSW RTA website should be able to advise.

Spot on. I was considering buying my car in NSW and driving back to SA; the NSW dealers were going to provide me with a permit for $50 that would allow me to drive the car to SA (no number plates though - just a sticker on the windscreen). Stamp duty is not payable in NSW - you pay it when you formally register the car.

The downside is, for SA at least, the car then needs to be taken to Transport SA for inspection to confirm the car is roadworthy, which is a bit of a hassle. (We don't have annual roadworthy inspections over here, incidentally.) Once that's done, you pay for your rego, and stamp duty, and you're done.

Well, sounds like NSW are much more accommodating than VIC

Also try Garry Crick Auto Group on the Sunshine Coast.

They are good to deal with & cut an excellent price & have great service (we buy most of our VW's from them)
