  • Roof Spolier

    Hey Guys,

I am looking for a roof spoiler to be installed on my golf MK6 118 TSI. I checked with the dealer and they gave me a rough qoute of 1K for part+ paint (candy white)+ installation. Does any one know any cheaper and better option? I dont think it is worth spending 1K on it. Also I have seen some in ebay, which is supposed to be DIY installation type using 3M stickers! Not sure if they can hold the part in Aussie weather. Please let me know what you think.

I had my 2008 Golf GTI fitted with the full Oettinger bodykit. Although I didn't need a roof spoiler, as the GTI already had one, Oettinger did have a replica of the GTI spoiler for only $475 for the non-GTI cars that also wanted to have the bodykit fitted.
Now obviously, that $475 price was exclusive of shipping (from Harding Performance in QLD), fitting and painting, and it was also 2 years ago, but I'm positive those wouldn't add up to another $525.

Give Guy from Harding Performance, or Derek at European Autotech (in NSW) a call and see if they can help you out

        thanks for the info
        i will ring them up.

Can anybody comment on fixing the spoiler with 3M stickers?
The seller in ebay said they used to fix a lot in HK/CN . I am bit worried abt that..and asked him whether it would suit Aussie hot weather. His suggestion was then to add silicon glue along with it to get it properly fixed...any comments???

Those '3M stickers', as long as they are the right specs, could hold a semi-trailer to a prime mover! They're pretty strong. 3M put both a bonding strength and a temp range in their specs - so as long as they are ok, it should be fine

Alright if thats the case I can go ahead and get it from the seller. I was bit concerned on buying it as, there are no holes or other options on the part to fix it to the car!

Hi, I was just wondering if you fitted your new spoiler and if you had pics?

I'd be checking first that they fixed the problems the mark V had throughout it's entire production life with the rear spoiler and condensation as each time this occurs you're looking at $400-500 to fix it and possibly even $1000 as sometimes the spoiler is damaged removing it (or the car's paintwork scratched).
