      • Got a great price and generous test drive from Denlo parramatta. Negotiation was pain-free.

All other aspects were average at best, for e.g. not very punctual, disinterested attitude (except until they tried to upsell me things after I signed), thus far poor at returning calls and keeping contact.

Business manager(s) were disorganised & somewhat dishonest in upselling.

        • Hey guys, had a very disappointing experience at VW Chatswood. I don’t think I will ever go back there even to service my car if I ever get one. The New car salesperson Jasmine is nice but the other pri...guys there are not.

Jasmine advised that the price list she gave me a couple of weeks ago does not apply and the price of the vehicle I was interested in (Tiguan 137 TSI DSG) has actually increased by a grand and a half! I commented, "what happened? Euro is so weak against the AUD surely costs should come down rather than go up!"

Anywho, a new car for me was not an option (out of my price range I am willing to spend). So we started talking about 2nd hand Tigs. She said she had to pass me to one of the 2nd hand guys as it was their bread and butter. So she put me through to a portly asian guy. I think his name was Steven. Anyway, this guy has the worst customer service demeanour ever and he talks crap about the car saying this car is a top of the range model its got a bigger engine blah blah blah...bull$h!t. He and the other 2nd hand guy could not give a toss about me. The other guy has ignored me every time I went there. I offered $37K for the Tiguan there and then. He scoffed. He said he just turned down an offer from a lady for $36K. He went back in and checked with the other guy and came back, “can’t do it” and walked off! I think these guys are spoilt for sales in Chatswood. The people who rock up probably pay full price for them that they won’t even entertain any offers. Going to Parramatta next time. At least the sales guy there knows his stuff and seemed vaguely interested to sell a car!

            • To be fair- just because the aud is strong doesn't mean things get cheaper. Think of it this way- aud is stronger so people buy more. More shopping means an increase in shipping quantities. Increase in shipping quantities = increase in shipping costs.
There lies the inherent problem with a strong aud!

So, be nice to the salespeople. It's not their fault if VWA increase prices. They're jut following their orders!

              • I've never had a good experience in Chatswood VW. They never seem to give a damn about their customers.

Spoke to their 2nd hand car manager to search for my R32. Told him that i'm interested, what specs what colour. He didn't even write anything down. And didn't even look me in the eye when I told him what I need. And at the very end asked him if he's even going to take my details down cause he didn't.

So far I've only ever dealt with Jasmine and it's been pleasant and another guy (something like their product guru. Non sales staff) knows his stuff and actually care about telling you what you need to know.

Regardless I doubt i'd buy anything from chatswood vw. Barloworld was a much better experience.

Just my 2 cents to help people out like it did me.

                • I had one good experience at Chatswood VW, luckily for them it was when I bought my MkV GTI. Haven't had a good one since. They were my first stop for the MkVI and they failed every step of the way - I dealt with at least 4 people.

                  • Could somebody clarify once and for all how dealer servicings / warranty works?

Can I get warranty repairs done (if needed) at any VW dealership?

I bought from Denlo Parra (i.e. Service centre in Chatswood) and they were very pushy in saying I should service only with them etc. otherwise it complicates warranty

Was just wondering how much truth there is in that?

I'm getting closer and closer to my first service, will also need the wastegate clip installed, so if they make my life hard I was planning on seeing a more local dealership for all future services.

                    • I think they mean "Only with VWA", not a log book service from Mt Tuffy the Tune up Dude!

                      • VWA only to me is a given, but they were heavily implying that they may not repair under warranty any parts etc. that another dealer touches.

Few other lies was that if I didn't buy VW insurance then I would get non-genuine parts in repairs ...

That their in-house paint protection is of a superior quality that can only be applied to brand new paint, and that its absolutely impossible to apply it after accepting delivery.

And that financing through them actually makes the car cheaper. (I'm sure it suits people in many situations, but making blanket statement like that to me is very irresponsible)

                        Bunch of muppets.

I also got my car from Denlo. From what I understand, Inchcape (the company that runs Denlo Parramatta & Chatswood Classic) offer a complimentary 2 year extended warranty on top of the standard 3 year VW warranty on new cars sold. One of the conditions in order for them to honour any warranty claims in the extra 2 year period, is to only have your car serviced exclusively by them from new (so either Chatswood or Parramatta).

During the first 3 years, you can bring your car for warranty repairs to any VW service centre. Keep in mind if you decide not to go to Inchcape, you forfeit the extra 2 years offered by them..

This is all noted in the paperwork the dealer gave you with the car.. Take a look at it.. From memory the ‘extended warranty’ is not fully comprehensive, they only cover some things, and I think you can only claim something up to $2000 during that time..

MODS: Can this be moved to a warranty thread?

                          • Yeap I remember discussing the extended warranty with them, essentially service-store credit ... to me the policy had too many provisions for me to put any value on.

Will see how I go with my first service etc. with them.

I've previously spoken to (I think) the manager at the Chatswood service centre, forgot his name (would love to know if anyone knows), he seemed nice, very different to his sales counterparts.

                            • You can only bring it back to the dealer that you bought from for the extended warranty. Unless you bought VW extended warranty (extra cost on top of the car) then it covers all VW dealerships. Might also include VW road side assist (correct me if i'm wrong)

Haven't had any experiences with chatswood service so best of luck. Let us know how you go. Just before they say you "need" to do anything ask on the forums and see if everyone experienced similar need for parts change at the same mileage.

Completely agree, and the fact that you needed to do a 7500km "service" with them (no oil change) made me bin the Inchape warranty.
