  • GTI Footrest - Alumnium Finished or plain black plastic?

Question for the lucky few that have got their GTIs

Can someone kindly confirm what sort of foot rest is installed in the Aus-spec GTIs? Is it the nice aluminium + rubber finished one like in the R or is it plain black plastic?

I'm probably being pedantic, but if it's black plastic I'd be certainly tempted to replace it with an aluminium one to match the rest of the pedals.

    Cheers, everyone!

does it really matter???? Do you look at your pedals when you drive?

Plus, I've found my feet stick better to the plastic ones when the pedals get wet. slide right off the alloy pedals.

....and it's not like other passengers will ever notice it, I know . But it's just one of those things where I just gotta have those pedals matching even though it serves absolutely no functional purpose whatsoever. Otherwise it'll just be constantly on the back of my mind whenever I get in the car. I am pedantic like that.

If anyone else is interested, Part No. for the aluminium foot rest is 1K1864551SUB... it's available on quite a few sites for approx USD$30

Thanks Murph and Big Yellow for confirming!

            No worries.

IMO, it may look a little out of place in alum finish. Both left and right footrests create a symmetrical shaped footwell and look completely separate from the pedals. Can you get both footrests in alum?

No, mate. The paddle you are talking about is left hand drive version. This is the one for us: http://www.parts4euro.com/DCShop/pro...roducts_id=442

              It's bloody expensive.

Ahh cheers, you're right! And right about it being pricey as well... though it does look like it's pretty decent quality for a footrest cover.

Might be a little late for early GTi owners who have already purchased their footrest but just to let you know that there are some stainless steel footrest pedals with the letters GTI cut out for around Aud$40 (inc shipping) on ebay. Note that the slots and lettering on these are not filled like the OSIR ones so you might get some dirt stuck in/behind them.

thats what actually turned me off buying it and also it wouldn't quite match the pedals without the raised rubber inserts. I know OSIR make a pedal with the rubber inserts but it is pricey, but looks oem. I know I only notice it when I get in the car, but its looks just looks like VW wanted to save a few $$$, dont think plus or minus a few dollars would be noticed.
