Australia does like their auto's much more than many other countries. Except for the US. And we have the highest obesity rates...
But seriously. I've driven both. I personally prefer the manual. I don't commute in peak hour (ferry ftw) so that's not an issue for me. I just prefer manuals. The DSG was technically amazing, but each to their own.
It's up to the individual. I don't think one is inherently better than the other. Just one is better suited to what the individual wants.
