Saw a black TSI yesterday and a white 5-door GTi today with them LED lights, if you guys are reading, they look great!!!

I got my code box from TM Tuning today and applied it this evening....no problems and no more warning light! Worth every penny.

sorry solistics, but did the code box remove the warning light without the use of the VAGCOM tool?...if so what did the code box set you back, what was involved in the installation and did it fix the flashing fogs you earlier stated in this thread...

The code box is basically a little plastic box with a line resistor inside to simulate a normal bulb (either a 5ohm or 50ohm can't remember)... LED lights have a lot less resistance and therefore causing the error... I think if you butcher a code box don't be surprise if it's just a PCB (or even just a wire) with 1 resistor in it. Or maybe multiple resistor/wire - one for each LED light (Brake, indicator, etc whatever in the cluster).

I believe you're confusing this with something else. The TMTuning Code Box emulates a VAG-COM cable and VCDS software for the purpose of recoding the car to indicate LEDs are installed. It is a one-shot deal: plug it in, let it do its thing, and then remove it - job done.

If you use the code box, assuming all goes as intended, you will not need to use a VAG-COM cable + VCDS.

IIRC, this detailed thread on VWVortex contains details of the code box, and the specific sequence of commands it issues to the ECU. When I read the post I remember thinking that it was intended for the US market, but if solistics says it works correctly on his Australian car (and has checked for any issues caused by incorrect coding - see this post), then all good.

Yes, in Perth! Was lucky enough to spot two if 'em, two days in a row.
Surprisingly, the sister of the TSi owner responded to one of my post on another forum, hopefully I'll hear from him soon as I would like to seek some advice from him (I know that there have been a fair bit written on this here). Nice to see some in Perth. Apparently one night another Golf followed this TSi all the way back home to have a good look at his LEDs.
The other was a white 5-door GTi in Subi, spotted it just as I was leaving work.
I think both their's were the R-line cherry red lights (un-tinted). Can't wait to get my hands on some Golf R tinted ones.

Id love to get some Converted, just not sure where to get them from and who to install (i would not attempt to do it myself, im handy around my house but hanvt yet made the transition to tinkering with my brand new car!)

Id go the golf R tinted LED's as untinted will look a bit boy racerish i think..... let me know what u end up doing!

Yea same here, I don't even trust myself with DIY home improvements.
I know where to get them on ebay plus some of the other recommended sites on this forum, just waiting to hear back from the TSi driver re installation (who did his and using which mode of recoding) and model type (with or without fogs) before I place an order.
Will let you know as this progresses.

It's really, really easy blanch0b; I'm the opposite of handy with most things, but even I managed to fit my tails without trouble. Just follow the great guides posted in this forum, and you'll be laughing inside of 30 minutes.

If you're after a good source of the tails, PM Ozram and he'll happily pass on the contact details of the supplier he, I and several others have used.

Coreying, I think you're on to something here , the GTI and TSI lights do look good on the R!!! My sympathies to all R owners.

I'll keep reading to see what you WA lads do and get mine done as well. Already decided it will be the tinted ones to go with the CG body.

Now all i would love to do it get Xenon type headlights and spots

Not doing anything else to the exterior.

Well I'm keeping my GTI tail lights... back in the days of R33 Skyline ownership , nothing is MORE PATHETIC to see a GTS-t owner putting on some GTR- rear spoiler , grill and badges on a rwd less superior R33 Gtst.. a straight giveaway is the RWD GTST has longer side blinkers on the front guards and has no bulge on the guards...

So I'm not gonna make my GTI look like something it's not. money best spent elsewhere.

You are quite right rs73, I used to think that and still do but in this case (for me and possibly most included in this conversation) it is not about trying to get our GTis/Golfs to be like an R, in fact we are very proud to be associated with the iconic VW GTi/Golf itself . I/we just (truly) prefer the LEDs over the stock half-moon ones, aesthetically.
