A question relating to putting standard lights BACK on the car after removing LED's - is the standard hex for Byte 18 00 and thus standard binary 00000000?

Only I need to turn my MY10 with halogens back to standard and of course stupidly did not record what the original was? I assume 00 if the default though?

    Thanks

Certainly sounded like a hardware/wiring issue. Good to hear you got it fixed up.

Most I've seen are 00 before being coded.

Mine were coded 02. I made a special point to check this just in case I had to ever set them back.

When I did mine I went in and selected C0 Lighting : Reset from the drop down box. I left it at that and all the lights worked fine. In hindsight I think I should have reset and then gone back in and recoded to option 02 like kryten2001 said. (see below)

            • Just to confirm.

I reset it to 00 (Co Lighting reset) and it worked fine - and then I checked the rear lights, and the two inner ones were far brighter than the two outer ones (or vice versa) but an obvious difference.

I then reset it to 02 and all worked fine and back to normal. Thus I would suggest for those resetting there's that 02 should be the first point of call...

                  No.... No clues!!!

You must read the whole thread to qualify for that information.

                  • Blacked out rear light clusters

Are these legal in Australia and if so where can I get them in Perth and are they easy to fit?

I would suggest you take note of what your original coding was when you change it (as is advised by Ross-tech whenever making a coding change), and restore to that!

Well if you really wanted to buy them in Perth you could always order them from any VW dealer. Personally I wouldn't though, as they'll rob you blind here.

I bought mine from ECS tuning out of the US. Came quicker than the local dealer could get them for you I'm guessing.

Once you get them you'll need to code your car otherwise you'll get errors on your dashboard. No big deal.... Just need to get in touch with somebody who has VCDS.

Very easy job to do though. Don't feel scared taking it on.

And yes they are legal, the Golf R has them.

You've already scared me off. Why is coding required?

                          • You need to tell your car not to sense the higher drain bulbs that you removed. The led lights draw much less power so they will throw a bulb error on your dash. Sometimes these cars are too smart for their own good.

It's a 5 min job. Most of that 5 mins is booting up your laptop.

Can I just get blacked out lenses without having to change the bulbs?

                              • If all you want is darkened lenses, sure.
