yes. the radio or cd player or media device will play whilst the satnav is displaying maps etc.
if you get it to direct you somewhere then it will interrupt the radio or cd etc only when it gives you a direction or message from the satnav.1974 1300 Beetle, 1997 Golf GL, 2003 New Beetle Cabrio, 2014 Audi A4 quattro -

Speaking of which, anybody know how to turn the young lady's voice up? Go to the Settings menu, and then into Navigation settings. it should be in there.'07 Transporter 1.9 TDI

Read, yes. Memorised, no. I haven't had the car since yesterday and it only occurred to me to check how to do it last night. Yeah - I have a memory like that too! It's triggered by events, and in the situation you talk about, I'd be driving when I thought of looking at the manual too!
