Sorry, I misread. But even still, does the slimline not look right on the back or is it purely for cost reasons? Or is that the way they come?
I think the normal plate would look better on the back rather than the slimline. The plate area at the back could handle any size but the front needs the slimline. The Euro plates would not give me the option of the numbers I wanted and were $595 vs $415. The difference will pay for the window tint LOL

Are you sure of this? I have had an very early "NXA" series standard Euro plate since 2002 and have never paid any annual fee whatsoever...
Regards,
- Anthony.
you are right, annual fees only apply if you personalise. A couple of years ago the initial fee for special plates went up and the annual fee was waived (other than personalised)
hoi polloi is correct about his plates, he got in early and wasn't subject to annual fees. mattyf83 is just wrong! lol
I'm not sure when it was, but at some point (after 2004 at least) the RTA changed from a "one off purchase price" to an "initial cost plus annual fee" on both personalised plates AND standard Europlates. Standard white or black Euro's were $100 per year, or $160 per year if you had N + your initials and 3 numbers.

NSW didn't until very recently. In fact, we had to pay an additional $100 per year to have even a standard non-personalised Europlate.

I said "until recently" there were annual fees. hoi polloi questioned this. I then posted a link which showed that I am correct that there was an annual fee until recently but now there is not. My link was from the RTA. I think that the RTA know what the costs of plates are since they are people who set the prices!
You have then come along again, misread my post, again, this time insulted me, and to top it all off, you have posted a link which just shows some of the same information which my link contained... i.e. the new pricing!
So please read properly first before posting, and please refrain from throwing personal insults around the forums.
@mattyf48 - Matey, calm down and have a read back a bit.

your link shows annual fees, mine doesnt. Your post whilst not insulting still made you out to look like a c#*k.
Please explain what was wrong about my post, given that when i got Euro plates 2.5 years ago i didnt pay a fee, and now there are no fees?
Dude! It wasn't MY link, it was the RTA's. The same site from the link you posted, it's just that mine contained MORE information to verify that there was an annual fee and now there isn't. Are you seriously arguing with the RTA? You think you know what the RTA charges better than the RTA does? Seriously?
Does anyone know how long it takes to get the plates in NSW once ordered ??
I have personalised premium plates now (slimline black on white) and want to "re-style" them to the slimline premium plates, with metallic silver lettering on black (for my Reflex Silver GTI) when it gets here.
I want to put them on my current car, only a week or a few days before picking up the GTI, so it all looks nice and shiny when I drive away from the dealer
