Oh that's low. I reallly liked the detroits. now I'm going to go custom ones in a little while, so I don't get them from the dealer. Haha

I wouldn't have ordered the Detroit alloys had I have not seen them in the flesh. Pictures don't do them justice but they really 'finish' off a beautiful car!

$1200 is a cheap option IMO..

Yeah there's a red demo GTI I see near my place all the time and it has the 18 inch Detroits. They look great in the flesh, very happy I ordered them.

Actually like denvers almost retro and more subtle. Any opinions

Wow - I must've missed this thread the first time around, but I must say, unlike all the other threads of this type, since you'd already put in the ACC, there was only 1 correct answer to this, and you've made it! Congrats on your purchase - and yeah, the upgrade to the $1200 Detroits really is a great value option.

I must be the only person that doesn't like either the Denver or Detroits? I'd probably do the $1200 option and then sell them for aftermarkets as I'd say they'd fetch a good price compared to the 17's?

Definitely order Detroits (18"). Even if you change your mind later they are very sought after and most of the mk5 and mk6 guys would be willing to buy them.

I'm with you on this; I'm not a huge fan of the Denvers, but I really don't like the Detroits at all. But in the end I ordered with the Denvers, and will likely go to a set of Omanyts or else spend the extra coin on an aftermarket option like BBS CH or VMR 710.

This is an interesting thread. I agree that the Detroits look far better, but after researching through a few other forums the general consensus was that ride quality suffers. I tested 18s with ACC and although the ride quality wasn't bad it definitely wasn't amazing (in comfort mode).

I'm coming off 17s on a Jetta Turbo FSI and that suspension is like rock. Great when you're going fast but over the bumps on the way to work it gets annoying.

In the end I went with Denvers because of this but this thread is swaying me to 18s.

Anyone have an opinion on ride quality, not just the look?

Anyone have an opinion on ride quality
                          I have the 18s.

Was worried about the ride quality and wanted ACC so I could soften the ride but could not get both at the time.

                          No regrets.

I have a bad back and drove Adelaide-Melbourne and back on freeways and more minor roads with no issues.

Car does get a bit rough accelerating really hard over broken road surfaces so if your roads are like this and you drive like a lunatic it might be an issue.

If anyone does want to sell their 18" detroits PM me anytime.
I'm thinking about getting a set if the price is right.
