Well I sent an email to the first one - he's away atm anyway so auto reply - guess when he gets back he'll tell me that he doesn't deal with the warranty anymore lol. The second email to Niraj Aswani bounced back - not sure why, incorrect email address perhaps? I did try it as it was written here and then without the - just incase it was a typo and both got the same failure notice.

            Thanks Maccaa

I ended up being contacted by Dee ****son (Dee.****son@inchcape.com.au) Who has been really helpful. The best price they can do is $1438.90. This is by far more reasonable than what VW Wangara were able to do ($1850).

Was that the Allianz or Swann backed one?
                And how many years/kilometres?
                Cheers

Hello, I've recently ordered a Golf with what should be the 3 year extended factory warranty backed by Allianz included in the deal. Just wondering what kind of documentation is provided for this extended warranty so I don't get stiffed when I pick up the car.

                        Thanks.

Interesting...seems that the price of an extended warranty is lower the earlier you buy it. This means that if you buy it on day 1 when you still have the normal 3 year factory warranty in full, it should be at its most heavily discounted. Obviously this would only suit certain types of buyers but I would be interested in knowing the cost differential between buying a 2 year extended warranty on day 1 of the new car purchase compared to the day before the factory warranty runs out! This would also be useful information for future purchases.

When I asked this 18 months ago, I was told the price was the same, as the extended warranty (as a VW or Skoda supplied one) ran from the end of the normal warranty. As has been said before, no point in buying it until your new car warranty is about to run out. You might have some more bargaining power to reduce the cost, but lots of people on this forum have been getting v good prices anyway.

                                Dealer extended warranty

                                Hi guys,

I (stupidly) bought dealer extended warranty for my R (back in May), and just wondering what my rights are. The extended warranty package consisted of the extended warranty as well as rim insurance.

When I bought the extended warranty, I specifically asked that if I scratched my rim, then I would be able to have it repaired - the sales person said yes and told me that only one rim can be fixed per year. So the inevitable happened a month or so ago. When I called the rim repair place, they said my rim would not be covered by this "rim insurance" because my rim was not bent/structurally damaged. Of course I was peed off, but I was too busy at that time to write a long complaint letter to the dealer.

A few weeks ago when GoldCoastVolkswagen offered a discount on the genuine VW extended warranty, I took this opportunity to see where I stand with the dealer extended warranty (and to see if I can get out of my deceiving deal). I noticed that in the fine prints that I had to service my car with my dealer until the end of the extended warranty period - this was explained to me when I picked up my car and I was fine with that. However, a second point caught my eye - after the manufacturer's warranty period was over, I had to service my car every 6 months with that dealer. This was news to me since I never thought my car required servicing intervals of 6 months. As you can tell, this was never explained to me at the dealer.

Where do I stand with this? Of course it's my word against theirs, but I felt like their hid some of the details from me. Would I be able to get out of this warranty and get my money back since the contract states that "The Cover will commence...upon the expiry of any Manufacturer's Warranty or Statutory Warranty provided with the vehicle." I checked the terms and conditions and can't find this anywhere!

Thanks for reading my long story! Any help would be much appreciated!
