  • rns510 and sd card

hey guys just bought an sd card for my gti. its a 16 gb sdhc formatted to fat 32. when i insert it into the card slot it says card error check sd card.

Since then i have tried the card in two computers and it works fine. i also tried another card in the radio unit and the same error comes up.

    Anyone know whats going on

If you have a RNS 510, I dont think you can get 16GB SDHC working without firmware update. If it is a RCD 510, it should support up to 32 GB SDHC with FAT 32 formatting

Here is a link! This is something I have found in a forum. To be honest, I have not tried it yet.

to be honest im a bit hesitant to try that. I also tried an 8 gb sdhc card and got the same result. could the head unit be faulty

No, there should be nothing wrong.

Without the latest update (which I'm also hesitant to try) it will only support up to 2GB card.

Mind you, a 2GB card will hold a lot of music in MP3 format.

The RNS 510 unit only supports 2GB SD card with its normal firmware. There is nothing wrong in your unit

Which it won't look at (at least, mine won't — but then I did format it under Windows 7...)

                  FAT and FAT32 are fine.
