I joined this forum to get some advice regarding my Golf 6 TSI. I bought the car from VW Five Dock in July. The car goes great and managed to do 15000km service 3 week ago, so I really been using this car to its full potential.

Friday afternoon in the extreme heat I was on my way to Napean Motor in Penrith when the car's Exhaust Emision Light came on. On the instument combi displayed that the car had to be services now. I drove to NM in Penrith and they advised me that the coil on the 4th cylinder in faulty and they swapped the coil on the 3rd Cylinder because the car was miss firing on that Cylinder.

After we pick up the car from them the Exhaust emission light came on again briefly. Yesterday morning I got in the car as I was warming it up the car was really shaking and was making a strange noise It sounds like a tractor.

I arranged for a flat bed tow truck to pick it up tomorrow morning to take to VW in Five Dock, has anyone experienced such problems with the new Golf.

    Thanks

I had something similar. Bottom line is they could not find the fault, but I have not had the problem since.

    http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=34078

They replaced the fuel injector but apparently the car was already back to normal before they replaced it when driving from the car yard back into the workshop to replace the injector.

One thing that DID get fixed out of all this is the "rattle" I get at low rpm has gone away. Presumably when they reassembled the various bits something got tightened up.

Thanks I will have a chat to the guys tomorrow. It is really frustrating, it is a excellent car and I would not change it for the world. Hope she will be ok, and hope they will be able to assist ASAP.

      Thanks

i had the lights for exhaust system failure turned on for while on same day (Friday noon) and my car had a different issue (with DSG). Later the lights went off - now it is sitting with the VW dealer to get fixed

five dock were the ones who fixed my car. The head tech andrew spent the time to explain what was going on. I have not had it recur which may mean the injector was a contributor.

Let up know how you go

Well I dont think European cars are disigned for the harsh Australian Climate. But saying that I will not drive any other car than a European 1.

My car was loaded up this morning after screaming and shouting at the tow truck guy for scratching the front bumper............... I spoke to Greg at Five Dock he said that they will see if they can fix it up today otherwise tomorrow noon. Cant wait this Public Transport is driving me insane.

            Cheers

They test in places like Death Valley and the NT. in Sydney's 40+ weekend both our European cars were fine.

I know what you mean about European cars. Even when we bought a Japanese car, it was a Euro.

I learnt from driving French cars to have a spare vehicle

I wouldn't wish Sydney public transport on anyone.

Hope they fix it good and quick

Of course they are. VW fit extra cooling to Australia delivered models (commonly known as the tropics pack) and this includes a larger radiator and extra cooling fan amongst other changes.

Just received a call from VW FD. There is no compresion on cylinder 4 and 2. The replaced the piston rings and replaced the coils on all 4 cylinders. Still after the dry and wet presure test there is still no compression. I am not very clued up with these sort of things and they advised me that they would have to order a new motor from Germany..........

Really upset I mean the car only has 16000 Km on and been running really good. Had the 15000 km service done 4 weeks ago...........

Is there any thing I can do?

At least they're not trying to deny anything or saying there's nothing wrong with it.

I would let them put the brand new engine in and ask for a loan vehicle gratis as compensation, as an engine failure at less than 20,000 Km is a bit harrowing.

Holy cow! It is what it is and at least they're doing the right thing by you & going to the extent of replacing the whole darn engine.

I thought at the time of my problems that they had to replace piston rings. I would be very frustrated if they didn't give me a new engine in that scenario... so that's good that they've done that for you.

That must have been a shock.

Oh that's not good. Also it is it weird that VW Au doesn't stock any parts here in Australia. I am having an issue with my DSG and they will need to order and get it from Germany. I wish if they had some stocks here, so that we don't need to wait too long.

I'm sure in the meantime VW FD will get Ollie a loan car as soon as they practically can. That will take the sting out of the wait. (hope they give you their Golf GT Sport if they still have it)

After a while I get used to my car & don't appreciate how good it is. Going from the loaner back into the car you certainly rediscover how quiet it really is & what a nice place it is to be in.

Good they are replacing the engine, but what they said makes no sense. It's odd to have 2 cylinders not next to each other go at the same time ( 2 and 3 or 3 and 4are more likely). If both dry and wet compression are low or non existent, then that means it is not the pistons or rings, it is the valves or heads that are the problem. I would have thought they would have noticed this while replacing the rings.

You have my sympathy. Hope they come good with a loaner.
