  • Bluetooth option in new Golf

I need help with the Bluetooth option in the new GTI Golf.

I have seen a few people mention they have had bluetooth added to their new Golf - I was not told about this option. I have searched the threads and saw some info about Fiscon, but this was $1,100.

How much is the VW Bluetooth kit, and is it any good?? Im presuming callers come up on the screen??? Any help would be appreciated as I called my dealer and they didnt seem to know too much

I think you'll find VW premium bluetooth is over $2000. Check the other threads to see its pros and cons. But if you are baulking at the price of the Fiscon, then you've probably read all you need.

In the link below, it states "Standard" bluetooth is $500?? So whats the difference between than and the $1,800 one??

Does the Mk6 GTI have bluetooth standard??

Hey lawsy82, you'll find all the answers to the questions that you're asking in the Summary of Bluetooth Options for RNS510 thread over in the Reload this Page VW Car Audio and Electronics forum. It discusses all three bluetooth options that you've mentioned.

If some one is looking for a cheaper plug & play bluetooth solution and using iphone, I would recommend Venturi Mini. I got it from online store for 90 bucks. Works great!
-streams music, has got aux in/out, FM transmitter with RDS which enables it to display caller id, contact book etc on Radio & Full MFDs. Also mutes CD/AUX or other sources automatically (via RDS) when a call comes in or is made. A brilliant product for VW especially if you have Aux in option. (note I am not a marketing guy for this product, simply want to let you all know about this as I am very happy with this). Also note that it is only compatible with certain phones, on iphone it works well.

Will it show caller ID on half screen MFD (Mark V Golf GTI)?

I wouldn't think so. I have not tested it in a VW with half MFD. If you can see track/channel info on your MFD from your radio/cd, then you should be able to see Caller ID.

Have you guys consider getting a portable GPS unit with Bluetooth and FM transmitter? I know TomTom 700 series does it and I think Navman has one too. They are around the $400 marks, even Kogan has 1 around $300.

I am currently using the Tomtom 720. I haven't set it up for using the car's speakers, however it works fine with the internal speaker.

                    Just a thought

I would highly recommend the OEM Skoda Integrated bluetooth, got it in my car and works great with the MFD/RNS510 (fine with the new RCD models too). Everything works as it should and call clarity is fantastic. Not sure if i'd bother with the other kits but YMMV.

The dealer/factory fit 'premium' Bluetooth kit is pretty steep and not as good IMO. Places like Harding Performance (in Brisbane) can fit the Skoda kit, price around $1500 fitted.

The summary on the other page covers it well.
