Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Averaged about 670km out of full tank.

Which is mighty impressive, considering I was only getting 350-400km before.
What did u do to improve it?

I just drove like a pensioner coz of double demerits and did 6.8l/100km

        Changed fuel.

From BP 98 to Shell V power.

Shell seems to give a smoother ride + more milage.

I'm still abit heavy on the foot.

I have to admit after years of using 98 that Shell is my pick.. had 1 or 2 dud tanks but generally is just makes the car run smoother

                      • just needed to know, does the breaking in of your engine have anything to do with fuel consumption? eg. if you break it in right you'll constantly use lesser fuel. i'm getting ~7.1L/100 km on my 118TSI that has 2200km on it. doesnt seem to be going down

That sounds about right in real life conditions - it all depends on your right foot. What did you think it will be?
Maybe just enjoy the new car and stop worrying about FC

yes it does. I had a big consumption drop at 5000km & another noticeable drop at 15,000km. They take a while to break-in fully.

it claimed a 6.1/100km figure. and while i know its pretty much impossible to get that, i was expecting smth like a 6.5? i dont drive my car hard so i'm just puzzled that bout the figures. (my previous Mazda2 with a claimed 6.8/100km returned 6.9/100km)
haha FC is pretty impt to me (hence the 118TSI over the GTI). i'm still in uni and it adds up to ~ $5 more a week. its almost like my car is taking my lunch money once a week lol.
