Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Volkswagen 1.4 TSI wins International Engine of the Year

Volkswagen has knocked BMW off its perch by winning the International Engine of the Year overall honour with its twincharged 1.4 litre four cylinder engine.

Not content with the overall title, the 1.4 TSI also won the Best Green Engine 2009 and Best Engine in the 1.0-litre to 1.4-litre category...

    Pretty impressive really.

In NSW I believe there are restrictions on what cars learners and P platers can drive. So if your family car is 118TSI or 90TSI, and you are on your P's you may have to rent another car to get your log books filled! Classic case of some regulations being not carefully thoughtout.

      Cheers,
      Alan

VW have already stated that both those cars are OK for P plate use.

RTA's website indicate that the petrol Golfs "may be eligible for exemption" from the P1 and P2 driver prohibited vehicles conditions. It's still a pain though, one still has to apply for exemption.
