How do you understand the GTI reference. Is it that: -
1. We will not be able to even order until late 2009 or

The Mk5 GTI is still available for sale, while stocks last.

I'd love to think you're dealer is being honest, but given the GTI is not on sale anywhere else in the world just yet, I'd say it's pretty safe to say he's having a lend.
The best I can think is that a GTI from the Paris show, or similar, is here for the Melbourne Motor Show.

thats what i wouldve thought... but he said hes driven the stocky mk6 and that there was a gti at the launch last week. maybe hes just a bit green and got his wires crossed!
i was actually there asking about how to get on the r20t w/l... he rang (someone? at VW) who said 3rd quarter of 09 for its release (which i found doubtful considering its projected release at the geneva motor show isnt for another week or 2)... i said "isnt that when the gti is being released?". he said the gti should be out a lot sooner than that.Comment

My Mk4 was used at the launch in Byron this week, the tow truck driver told me that there was a 'special' golf, flown in from Germany, that had to be kept under wraps. Only the dealers got to see it and it was left hand drive.MK4 GTI - Sold
